Crashing the Net: Game On in Seattle (Seattle Sockeyes Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 971 ratings

Includes "Crashing the Boards" novella as bonus material. Hockey star Cooper Black and professional party crasher Izzy Maxwell return in this sequel to Crashing the Boards.

Jealous boyfriends and glitzy parties can be a recipe for disaster.

When the gorgeous yet controlling Cooper interrupts a party Izzy was paid to crash and almost ruins her career as a professional party crasher, Izzy kicks him to the curb. She learned early in life not to count on anyone, and she will not relinquish her independence, not even to a sexy-as-sin pro athlete who can melt her heart with one wink.

As the Sockeyes hockey team opens their inaugural season in Seattle, Cooper finds himself minus a girlfriend and plus a surly teenaged nephew. Cooper doesn't want to be a surrogate dad, he doesn't want to play in Seattle, and he doesn't want to be alone. He misses Izzy, but seeing her with other men at parties turns him every shade of green. Regardless, he wants her back, and he's willing to change, if only she'll give him a second chance. Aware of her precarious finances, Cooper makes an offer she can't refuse by hiring her to be responsible for his nephew when he's traveling with the team.

Fearing Cooper isn't capable of changing his control-freak ways, Izzy resists his efforts to turn their financial arrangement into a personal relationship. He needs a sweet, docile girlfriend, and Izzy cannot be that woman. Yet, when tragedy strikes, Izzy is there when Cooper needs her the most, and love has a way of getting what it wants, no matter the circumstances.

Cooper was a hard and fast single man, he didn't want a relationship he just wanted to play hockey and moving to Seattle wasn't the place he wanted to be. He met Izzy and they had an instant attraction and when he needed help with his young nephew she was there for them booth. He enjoyed her company and gradually realised he didn't like being without her. She knew he wanted to move and tried hard not to fall for him.

Crashing The Net is book one of the Seattle Sockeyes Hockey sports romance.

This story is set in Seattle and is about team captain Cooper and party crasher Izzy.

Copper’s old ice hockey team has recently been bought by new owners who insist on its move to Seattle. Cooper isn’t happy about this and is reluctant to cooperate with the new management.

He meets Izzy at a party that she has been employed to crash. This sounds like an odd way to earn a crust, but Izzy needs the cash. Although they are attracted to each other, both are controlling leader-types, and a stormy relationship entails.

I found myself lukewarm over the early parts of this book; however, once Cooper’s nephew arrived, it gave the storyline a new focus and I began to enjoy the story and the characters much more.

Second book in series and omg there are some serious issues that are integral to the story. Young Riley broke my heart with his bravery and insight to people. Loved be the romance between Izzy and Cooper and recommend this author.

Cooper and Izzy have a few false starts before they get their happy ever after. Cooper's nephew comes to stay and Izzy helps out. She's there when Cooper needs her most. I've read other books in this series but Cooper is my favourite.

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

Once again Ms Davenport graces us with a fantastic sports romance. It is the third book in the series, and I would recommend that you read them in order to get the full picture, but this is a good book all on its own!

Cooper is a man who is being thrown for the loop time and time again, and he just doesn't know, or understand why he is reacting how he is. Izzy is just one of the factors that is blowing away his control, and she likes their chemistry no more than him. Great set up, lovely execution and delightful and dramatic twists make this a wonderful story. I can see this series being a huge hit as it follows the rest of the team. I do hope that we get plenty of updates on Cooper and his clan too.

The story of Cooper and Izzy is a charming romance with a twist. Although the central story is about the romance between a hockey player and a party crasher, there's a lovely subplot interweaved that really pulls on the heartstrings. The plot is well paced and it has likeable, strong characters that have real development. Jami Davenport always delivers hot alpha men, particularly when she's writing sports stars, and her female characters are always well thought out and have great strength and personality. All in all, another fab read from one of my favourite authors that I can thoroughly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this series!
Reviewed in the United States on 30 April 2016
This is a great book 3 of the series and can be read as a stand alone. I love the series so far, so I recommend reading the whole series. At least read book 2 because it introduces us to Izzy and Cooper who are the main characters in book 3. This continues their story and gives us an HEA.

This was an actual emotional read at times. Hitting on events that could actually happen that the thought of scares me daily. This story had depth to it. It wasn't just a standard boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, the end.

Good story line, awesome characters that I was able to fall in love with (Esp. Riley), easy to visualize descriptions to details and engaging dialogue.

All in all, a fantastic read.

Would I recommend this book? Yes!

This book had up and down, up and down again, and again. It was like riding a roller coaster in an emotional way. I'm really not sure that I would read any of the other books in the series, but I think readers would enjoy this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved most of it, but read it twice
Reviewed in the United States on 29 May 2016
I loved most of the book and the story of Izzy and Cooper, I still think the book before this one should have been added to the front of this one instead of making us buy it as a separate book/novella. I love the cast of characters and getting to know everyone better as we get further into the series. Another problem I have with the story is that we were 48% into the book before it was revealed that there even was a reason for Cooper's hatred of Seattle, i t kind of felt like it was thrown in as an afterthought.
I just read it for the second time, and saw that the story before it was combined with it in the anthology of the first 3 books. I just love the characters that this author has created and wanted to come back and get to know Riley again before he gets his own book this month

Jami Davenport combines my love of hockey and my love of romance. I enjoy the interweaving of novels in her series, and reading about Izzy and her sisters. I’m looking to finish the series.
