One Night (One & Only Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 92 ratings

"Christie Ridgway captures the true magic of falling in love."--#1 New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr

The last thing landscaper Brett Walker wants is to fall for a rich girl from the swank side of the mountain resort, but when Angelica Rodriguez is nearby he loses his sense…and just maybe his heart.

“A sizzling combination of heat and heart.”--#1 New York Times Bestselling Author Barbara Freethy

Brett Walker might have two sisters on the brink of making marriage commitments, but he’s not ready to promise a lifetime to any woman. That most especially includes tempting and beautiful Angelica, one of the resort area’s wealthy visitors. They come from two different worlds.

Angelica Rodriguez wants family, friends, and a place to sink her roots deep. But now that her father has swindled away her savings, what she needs is a job. When Brett’s sister offers her work and his other sister says she can stay at the family cabins, Angelica can’t say no—though it means becoming up-close-and-personal with the maddening and oh-so-masculine Brett, who makes her want to say yes, yes, yes.

    AWESOME

Landscaper Brett Walker might have two sisters on the brink of making marriage commitments, but he’s not ready to promise a lifetime to any woman. Especially not to tempting and beautiful Angelica Rodriguez, one of the resort area’s wealthy visitors. They come from two different worlds.

Angelica Rodriguez wants family, friends, and a place where she can sink her roots deep. A man, not so much. After all, her father has just swindled her savings away. What she needs is a job, and when Brett’s sister offers her a position cleaning houses and his other sister says she can stay at the family cabins, Angelica can’t say no—though it means becoming a neighbor to the maddening and oh-so-masculine Brett, who makes her want to say yes, yes, yes.

On the autumn shores of beautiful Blue Arrow Lake, can two lonely, wary people open their hearts to love?

Brett is probably one of the most brash and sarcastic characters I've seen in a book yet! He argues constantly with Angelica and their banter is what keeps you coming back page after page. One thing I would say is too read ALL the books in the series. You don't have too, but it's beneficial if you do. I found myself going back to the other books for reference - not because I had to but because I wanted to grasp everything I was reading.

Angelica is a sweet girl and she's has a rough childhood. I had to say that for her putting up with Brett as much as he's a pain in the butt was hilarious. She and Brett were an awesome match I thought...she made his "I'm never getting married into...I'm all in!!"

Overall, if you love this author then you'll love this book. It was well-written, comical and had a great plot.

I received an ARC from the publisher/author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.

One Night is my first read by Christie Ridgway, it is the third book in the One & Only series and I didn't feel as if I missed out on the first two in order to enjoy this story. It did leave me wanting to read and find out about the characters in the first two books.

Brett Walker is not your ordinary alpha male character, he is a grumpy landscaper and a brother to three sisters ( 2 of which are planning a wedding). Brett has a past that carries a heavy burden and heartbreak it has also kept him far away from falling in love and wanting that happy ever after. He can't help himself when it comes to Angelica Rodriguez, he has her pegged for an uptight wealthy woman looking for that richie rich type of man. Why would she even look twice at a man who works with dirt and with his hands? His push pull need for her had me frustrated, because the connection is so felt right off the pages.

Angelica Rodriguez has had her sights set on Brett ever since she noticed him working on the landscape at the resort she used to stay in when she was younger. Now that Angelica's father has taken everything from her she finds herself needing a place to live and a job. Angelica finds solace on Blue Arrow Lake, she is offered a job and a cabin, the only problem is that it has Brett Walker written all over them. Being his neighbor and working for his sisters will take all the strength she needs to control her desire for this gorgeous man who can drive her crazy. I loved that even though Angelica is struggling with the obstacles that are being thrown at her by her father's actions, she stayed optimistic.

I really enjoyed this story, it's funny, heartfelt, frustrating, sexy and has a little suspense. Once the connection between Brett and Angelica is felt, it upped the story for me because the emotions were felt. We also get a surprise love story thrown in there with another couple, which I found cute and endearing. This story also left me wanting to no more about Brett's sister Mackenzie and Zan, so I can't wait for One Love. I have to say there is a lot going on in this story, characters coming left and right. Surprisingly, I found that I didn't mind that. I would recommend this 4 Star contemporary romance, it has heart pouring off the pages.

Book 3 in this series, plus this is a rewrite of a previous series.

Brett is a landscaper and is the tough one and only boy of the Walkers family. He loves living up in the mountains and will never fall for a "flatlander" again after being burned from one when he was younger.

Angelica is a rich well to-do "flatlander" that tried her best to get Brett to notice her, but he always kept her distance. Angelica finds herself back up the mountain looking for work, friends, a place to call hers after her father takes all of her money and leaves her broke. She knows eventually everyone will find out, but she tries her best to keep a low profile.

Brett finds out that she has no place to stay and offers her one of the cabins next to his of course he demands it in his way without really asking her. Brett is a little rough around the edges after serving his country and being hurt deeply from her betrayal.

Angelica finds she found her place, her roots, but Brett doesn't seem to want her to stay, so she decides it is best to leave. Brett won't have that, so he convinces her to stay.

Along the way there are also a bunch of break ins and robberies going on and everyone speculates who it is, but are they ever in for a surprise when we find out who it is.

We also get to visit some characters from the previous books, and learn all about their wedding plans and we also see a softer side to Brett. He has a hard outer shell he shows the world, but is a softy at heart.

Can Angelica really trust her feelings and not run away, and can Brett let Angelica in and realize she is his savior? Will love win?
