Alex knew exactly who he was and what he wanted from life. He had an amazing family, the best friend he could ever wish for and a job he loved, the only thing missing was that one special person. He had spent the last three years aching for one man and no matter what he did to try to forget about him it never worked, ever. He was always there in his thoughts, dreams and desires. He was the perfect man, tall, dark and handsome and had the body of a god. If only Alex could get his hands on him and get another chance to show him how right they could be together.
Valentino had spent his life living it the way that was expected of him. He had the job, the money, the house, the cars and the most beautiful woman on his arm. But even with all that he was not complete, something was missing. Unfortunately the one person he fears will make him whole is someone he shouldn’t be craving. The problem is that if he follows his heart to what he thinks could be happiness his whole world would be turned upside down and he will hurt everyone close to him. Is he willing to risk the consequences to allow himself to be truly happy for the first time in his life?
Will Alex be able to hold himself back in order to stop scaring Valentino away or will Valentino give into what is between them and allow himself the life he so desperately wants? (This is an M/M romance that is not recommended for under 18's due to adult language and explicit sexual situations)
Tracy Michelle is the pen name of two friends from southern England. They are both twenty something and live with their husbands and crazy pets. After life unexpectedly forced them to meet they bonded over their love of reading. This love soon developed in to a passion for writing and their first romance novel Fixed was born.
Can this book even be considered as an mm? It felt like it's supposed to be an MF, judging from the amount of MF scenes there were already in the first half of the book, but somewhere along the line the author decided to turn it into an mm instead. There are just way too much unnecessary drama! Why is the book so long? Does it need to be this long?????
Okay...I’m going to do the “good” first as I don’t want to start off this review in a negative manner. It’s such a good book, and I really wouldn’t want to put anyone off reading it because of the grumbles I have. I got this yesterday and it took me a few hours to read, I found that I really didn’t want to put it down yet as we all know real life forces us to. I got really swept up in Alexander and Valentino’s story. The book had this pull that compelled me to keep reading. I love when a book does that. I didn’t skip read, it wasn’t boring but neither was it overwhelming. It was a good, easy read and totally relatable. There’s a myriad of good characters in here, with some fab development going on. One or two characters were left a little lacking but I know that’s because they are destined for a future plot in another book. I liked that; after all you can’t give it all away at once now can you?
M/M, which is a favourite genre of mine. Sometimes this genre can get a bit seedy when it comes to descriptive narrative but when you find one that isn’t then you know you’re getting a good read. And this is. There’s lots of angst, hurt, tears, miscommunication and misunderstandings going on in here yet it’s extremely easy to keep up with. The dynamics of Val and Alex’s relationship are quite complex in nature but faced with their story I wouldn’t expect it any other way. There was a lot of back and forth between the characters and some meddling from an utterly adorable best friend Jen. Alice stole the show for me though. She doesn’t feature too heavily in Fixed but oh my word, I loved her. She truly gives you some laugh out loud moments. Those balanced the book I think. In terms of subject matter I thought things were dealt with satisfactorily, it wasn’t too deep yet there was a potential there for it to become that way.
So now my gripes I’m afraid. I liked the style of writing however I found it a tad lacking, for want of a better word. I would have preferred to have seen a more mature style which probably would have suited this genre a little better. It’s a bit hard to explain because I wasn’t eye rolling or anything like that but the tone felt like it could have been a bit more grown up. Even though I found the writing juvenile, the story carried this book so very well. There’s some excellent dialogue in this book but on the other hand there’s some overly abundant dialogue which made me ask the question – is this how we speak in reality? I might just have picked up this on because I’m currently researching fictional dialogue, so it’s in the fore front of my head at the moment but it was something I took note of. I struggled a touch with the dual pov. It’s a favourite way of mine to read yet at times I find a lot of scene replication when it’s written this way, there’s not too much of it in Fixed but I did note a few instances. Towards the front end of the book there are some flashback scenes, many readers don’t like that but I have to say they worked for this story.
I’m in a little bit of a quandary over this book; I read it for review so the fact that I did I have to take that into account when rating this. As a pure reader I would probably rate it a little higher than what I have if I’m being honest. As far as I am aware this is a debut from two authors (that’s the impression I got from the acknowledgements anyway, feel free to correct me if I am wrong) and it would appear that everything has been done themselves. From book cover, editing, writing, etc…for that I absolutely take my hat off that they did. However I really think that there needed to be another editor involved. It is by no means terrible, in fact it is really good but it’s noticeable and for some readers that can be off putting when reading. The biggest fault I came across throughout the whole book was a lack of commas which sometimes made it hard to interpret a sentence, I found myself re-reading sentences a few times and internally adding the punctuation for it to make more sense. An easy thing to get over I know, and I did confirm that the copy I received was the finished copy so I do feel justified in mentioning it in my review.
Despite its lack of finesse, there is just something about Fixed that makes it an absolutely great read. Like I’ve said previously - I’m an absolute sucker for a debut so when I find a good one it really does make me smile. I am really looking forward to seeing what these ladies come up with next and I am absolutely dying to get inside India’s head. Congrats on a fab little debut!!
Firstly I need to get this out of the way. This review is not in any way indicative of the writing style of this book which is really good but just my own personal view of it.
The book does have a certain hypnotic quality that draws the reader in so you would think I would have enjoyed reading it more.I did not..... fully.
It just confused me! Frustrated me! Irritated me!Which is good for a writer because the aim of any book is ultimately to milk emotions be it positive or negative.
Lets start with the confusion:
This book is written as GFY yet the sex that one of the heroes has with his girlfriend India of two years is actually hotter than the ones he has with his "male obsession" due to the stop & start nature of the games he plays with him. This book is littered with Valentino's indecisive mm scenes with the fully fledged sex scenes being with his girlfriend.
In one scene the author writes quite vividly about his desperation to be inside of her.
"She clenches around me and the feeling is as exquisite as if it’s the first time I’ve ever felt it. Warm and wet, I slide in effortlessly as I grab at her arse and lift and lower her on to me
“Valentino, please…please. Oh god,” she begs. The words are falling from her mouth as she grips me tighter. I feel the familiar tingles down my spine.
“Valentino?” “Yes Bella.” “You didn’t wear a condom.” I go stiff as realization dawns on me, she’s right. I got too carried away."
Now that reads like bisexuality which ran through almost 50% of the novel though the incident that leads to Valentino becoming unhinged is the one where he walks in on his "male obsession" doing the walk of shame with another man.He did not even have to fantasize to reach an orgasm this time.It was all his anger & India.
I predict Valentino has to be the most angst ridden male character to walk 2016.This man is the King of Denial and his reasoning's are all skewed. His family life is shit.He dislikes his parents & hates his brother who is major tool.He lives on own,is rich,is a doctor and it's not like he is a defenseless teenager who is going to be thrown away because he admits to being gay.He rides this pity bus with zeal for 3 confused years knowing who he wants yet not accepting because of his screwed sense of morality. He is also aware that his girlfriend is cheating on him yet stays with her.
He does not cheat on his girlfriend though there are grey areas where he begins foreplay yet stops leaving the other main character always high & dry. This happens countless of times. But than if you are hunting a man who appears to be in a committed relationship with a woman for two years than you deserve what you get.
Now STRANGELY for me the character that drives this book most is Val's girlfriend India. She is drawn in black crayon. She burns on every characters mind.
She cheats.Yes with his brother. She actually has sex with both brothers on the same day.Separately off-course. She admits to having had STD in college because she was free & easy than during a game of tell.Looks like this tiger has not changed it's stripes.
She falls pregnant, has a miscarriage & later admits to Alex the "male obsession" that she deliberately set out to lose the baby by practicing unsafe behavior.Yes,she is a doctor so is aware of biology.
She also misleads everyone into thinking that the baby is the hero's to trap him into staying with her.She is a creature of manipulation yet ALL the men appear to be captivated by her even the supposedly gay one.
The most puzzling behavior is that of Alex brother Ashton. He is another character of dubious morals. He breaks a woman's heart by promising to return to have relationship with her yet does not come back in 10 years (he excuses his behavior with a casual shrug) & only because he caught his wife cheating. He seems most drawn to India even though she is the monster of cheaters in this book. There are hints that there is going to be some sort of a relationship between them in the next book.
This book is apparently a series & it appears that India is going to be the focal point of the followup book as well whether as a figure of villainy or sympathy I'm unclear.I cannot fault the writing though some parts are really long drawn & unnecessary especially the dance of frustration between the two men .
“I can’t help but touch him. I run my hand that’s trapped under him up and down his smooth muscled back. With my other hand I gently tease back hair that has fallen on to his forehead back and over his ear.”
4 stars!! Wow this book was so hot and steamy!!! I love a good M/M romance and this one hit the spot!!! Great job!!

Alex and Valentino’s love story is so hot!! I had a hard time putting my kindle down I was so involved in their story!! I don’t want to give too much away, but I will say this book is worth the read!! Super sexy and romantic in all the right places!!! It’s hard not to love this book!!

It is difficult to even start because I am still looking for that cigarette. Author Tracy Michelle have fulfilled their quota and sucked the gray matter right out of my brain. I have read some good books over the course of this year, and this one gets a .
Never have I ever...
I think from the opening sentence, I was hooked. "I hate watching them, but yet I can't pull my eyes away."The story of Alex and Val spans over a three year period and gets the readers just involved in their story as well as that of the secondary characters who brings it all together. Alex, a Gynae doctor craves Surgeon Val, the Italian stallion. He has such a hard on for the man that he lets it consumes his every waking hour. Unfortunately, Val is as straight as they come, except for that one incident that sets both their lives to a fork in the road.
"I have never been so hyper aware."
Along with the mad dashes of Italian, oh la la, we are bought along for a wild ride. Cheating, misconception, a dog nicknamed Numb Nuts, and a scorned girlfriend who just could not let go. There was so much going on I wanted to quickly get to the next chapter, but at the same time slow it to savor the words.
"Follow your heart..."
I enjoyed Alex and Val's story. With Val wanting to be the perfect son looking for acceptance and love, he in turn lost himself and almost the love of a good man. And Alex, never have I ever wanted to punch a man so often. They say if you are gonna eavesdrop, stay for the whole conversation. Even with the ups and downs, and the other situations going on, the men were able to find their way to each other over and repeatedly. This may not of been everyone's cup of tea, but it held my attention from the get go straight through to the exciting end.
Fixed is a fast paced, humorous and intriguing novel about finding love where you least expect it. This is a story about being happy and staying true to yourself, no matter what others may think. I thought the story-line was unique and developed really well. I enjoyed Alex and Valentino's story. It was nice to see how they overcame all of the obstacles they faced as they fought for their happiness. Alice was absolutely hilarious, I think she stole the show at some points for me. There was plenty of drama and plot twist that I didn't see coming. I really liked Tracy Michelle's writing style and I look forward to reading book 2.
A really very good debut book here. I love M/M stories, a real favourite of mine and am always excited to find new authors to read. You have Alex and Val, two close friends, one in love with the other, one so far in denial that you wonder if it will all work out. I was engrossed in this book really very quickly and I enjoyed the interactions between the two male leads but of course I was often frustrated by Val's reluctance to accept his feelings for Alex but I did understand them. You had all the ingredients for a great book...sweet friendships....hot sex....a bitch and of course a beautiful slow burn relationship. I enjoyed the writing style and I am eager for more from this Author.
I have never read anything by this author but was intrigued by the synopsis. The overall story was good, it was written using British dialogue which I loved, but unfortunately I had to give this a lower rating due to the extremely poor editing. This wasn't just a few mistakes or misspellings, there were several each page. I still gave it 3 stars as I felt that the story itself was well written, characters were well developed, and I enjoyed Alexander's and Valentino's journey.
Take out the jumping to conclusions, miscommunication, and indecision and there would be no book and yet, somehow, the author has managed to take all my pet peeves and turn them into a really enjoyable book!
Good debut with two nice main character but I have to give the whole thing only 3,5-4 stars. I wish there wasn't this much of angst, struggle and misunderstanding as well as miscommunication. It was sometimes a bit too much drama, I had the thought that the author(s?) would have like to give a complex story which it was - I can tell - but some things didn't have to be needed. Some character were great, Jen for example but I really despite India. Another character I had a few problems with was Ashton, Alexander's brother.
According some points which were a bit overdramatized I enjoyed it. The editing needs a better improvement, it was a bit hard to read with those heavy missing commas... Therefore I have to detract one star.
The beginning was a bit confusing but eventually I ended up liking the book. Val was a bit wishy washy at times but he eventually made up for it. His ex and brother were awful. Deciding to be who he wants without answering to anyone else.
