Rushing In (The Blackhawk Boys Book 2) Kindle Edition
***
I would do anything to help out my mother, including taking in a stranger for the summer.
I’ve never met Grace Lee, but Mom tells me she’s a quiet and artsy college student with a troubled past. When I agreed to let her stay with me, I expected to share my apartment with a sullen girl who’d spend hours locked in her room.
As the quarterback leading my team to victory, I’m known for keeping a level head under pressure. I didn’t anticipate a walking fantasy determined to make me lose my cool.
I didn’t expect a woman with secrets so dark, so deep, I’d throw away everything if it would save her from the past.
Rushing in to do this favor is turning my life upside down. Keep her out of trouble? Grace is the trouble. And I want in.
RUSHING IN is a standalone novel and the second in The Blackhawk Boys series.

Grace had made mistakes in her past, and with her father marrying again, she was to spend the summer with her future stepmother's son. This book has mistakes, secrets, angst, chemistry, and misunderstandings. It's a wonderful story, with fabulous characters, and a great bunch of friends. I can't wait to read more from this series, with Sebastian's story next.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 September 2016I loved Grace and Chris's story, although I was a bit thrown at first because there was talk of Chris and Dash, then finding out they were one and the same.
Once again Lexi Ryan works her magic, her storyline's are never simple, there's always more then one person or a love triangle of sorts but before it got really messy there was plenty of drama and secrets to keep us hooked. We are kept hanging on wondering when Chris was going to find out. Grace knew it was only a matter of time and when Issac turned up she knew her time was up.
Not only is Grace having to deal with her problems, Chris has been dealt with a life changing blow as well, it all gets pretty emotional for many reasons and add Chris's so called father into the equation and you can't help but feel the element of rejection.
Just when you might think the worst and it does seem that way for a while, things start coming to light, truth gets revealed and after the lies and misunderstandings we breath a sigh of releaf
What a fabulous ending by the way but how long are they going to be apart?
I'm looking forward to Sebastians story Going Under and knowing there will be plenty more too.!

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
I’ve enjoyed a few of Lexi's novels now and though I hadn’t read book one this is one of those series where each book is a stand alone, just having a connection by way of the characters and place to the others.
Poor Grace, what a horrific few teen years she’s had, I was so sad for her. Kids can be cruel and to be 13 with a bad stutter and big boobs – well, of course she took the way where she thought people liked her. Its not till later she finds how she’s being used and the consequences are still chasing her years later.
Her dad is overprotective to the extreme, I get he wants to protect her but c’mon she’s 20 now!! It does seem to me as a UK reader though that US teens/early twenties are far slower to be independent. I can’t imagine either myself back then, my own kids, or any of the teens I know now sticking to being told what to do and where she can live at that age....
So Grace does as she’s told, and to be honest its a respite away from the bit -chiness of living in her home town. She’s learning you can’t outrun your past, it comes with you, and though she’s spent years away the locals still think of her as easy gee gee :-(
She’s agreed to spend the summer with her new stepbrother, who she’s not yet met. Then when they do – wow, she finds out he’s the guy she had a “moment” with at her friends house the previous day....She doesn’t want him to know her as easy gee gee, she’s tried hard to leave that girl in the past but as the summer goes on and they finally give on to their feelings that past comes rushing back.
I liked Chris, he’s a good lad, very focussed on his career, and so far done everything to keep that running smoothly, and then he meets Grace and is head over heels in lust, and later love. Can her secrets pull them apart when they come out though? Will his past come up to bite them? Can they make it through or are they doomed to fail because of all the secrets? Its interesting when she brings up the “if a boy/man did that would he still be regarded as a slut or patted on the back” line, its something that so often irritates me. A boy is just “being a lad/sowing his oats/enjoying his freedom” whereas a girl doing the same thing gets the slut/easy/tart etc. label – grrr...
Its a fun read, though I felt I was reading about 14-16 year olds rather than young adults, but maybe as I said its that US/UK divide thing that I’ve noticed before.
I didn’t feel really pulled in to the story, didn’t really feel the issues were huge, more storm in teacup thing mainly. I felt for them both at the end where there seemed to be one thing after another heaped on them, but it all felt a little light ands superficial in a way, not the way I usually feel when reading one of Lexi’s stories.
As serious as the issues were that Chris was facing it just didn’t feel real enough to actually matter, I knew somehow there would be a way out, after all the HEA is why many of us love these stories. Usually the fun is in guessing how the author will do iot but here I just couldn’t really set my mind to working it out. One of those where I enjoyed it but not enough to reread, and I know in a couple of days I’ll have forgotten about them.
Stars: Three, maybe a four? Its a good story but just felt not really deep enough for me.

Can't tell you why specifically but this has been my favorite Lexi Ryan book so far! Reccomend the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book 2 is even better than book 1!
Lexi Ryan has the amazing ability to write broken individuals with so much emotional depth, and then use their experiences to make them whole again. She did it in the New Hope (Love Unbound) series, and in the Hear and Now series, and she is doing it with the Blackhawk Boys series as well. In this book, Grace has made some bad choices, starting at an age where she really wasn't accountable for her actions, and those older than her took great advantage of her naivety and desire for attention. Chris was her hero when she was 14, and he's never stopped being her ideal man, so it comes as more than a shock to find out he's going to be her new stepbrother. When her past comes back to haunt her, she isn't sure if Chris is just the nice guy that tries to make the best of everything, or if she even really deserves someone like him to love her. Her heartache was so raw, so real, that it chokes you up while you're reading it. So was his for that matter, especially as he faces his own challenges in the book. Lexi's characters are relatable. You either know someone like them, or you are them. And only Lexi can give you a resolution that wraps it all together so nicely that you are disappointed when the story ends. While book 3 is Sebastian's story, and Sebastian really needs to get lucky being that he was odd man out in books 1 & 2, I am hoping to see Mason and Bailey get a HEA in book 3 as well. Those characters have become near and dear to my heart as the books center around other main characters. I am impatiently waiting for book 3, and can't wait to find out what happens next.

Another amazing installment of the BlackHawk Boys.
This story focused on Chris who from the first book was the level headed safe guy from the team. Even though he is captain and QB never liked to take risks.
That is until Grace stumbles into his life and throws everything off course.
Grace has made some very stupid mistakes growing up and sadly has to live with the consequences but is trying her hardest to move forward and leave her mistakes in the past.
I don't like writing spoilers in reviews but I was unable to put this book down. Although classed as a standalone I highly recommend you start with the first one in the series Spinning Out to get the full story

5.0 out of 5 stars Rushing In
Great Story, Step siblings haven't met, parents are getting married, and they are expected to spend summer together, while parents honeymoon abroad. Chris night before rehearsal goes with a friend to a party, ends up at the friends girls house, and Grace is there. She is single, they are both attracted to each other, storm outside keeps Chris there longer than planned, one thing leads to another, lots of heated kissing, almost more, then lights back on, and she halts everything! Next am, time to eat step brother, he is still thinking of hot girl from night before, and she is heading to go meet her new step- brother, neither realizing they are one and the same!! Oh, my, let the fun begin! What will happen? Grace has a past that she feels she can't get past, and isn't worthy of anyone, this is a beautiful story, enlightening, love, lust, fun, sexy, heartwarming! Amazing love story❤️!
