LaClaire Touch (After Hours Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 69 ratings

When a man pays for my body, I shut off my emotions, close my eyes, and force myself to push through. No thinking. No feeling. No breaking apart.

Soon the debts will be paid. Soon I'll scrub their cologne and sweat from my skin and walk away from this business for good, pretending it never happened.

For now, my body is not my own. For now, I belong to any man who can afford me.

But when Derrick LaClaire asks for a night with me, I turn him away, even when he offers to pay triple what I earn per hour. I need his cash, but if I let him touch me, I know I'll break every single one of my rules. And he'll discover who I really am.

LaClaire Touch is a steamy full-length, standalone novel with a happy ending.

Another equally as good as the first book in this "After hours" series or the LaClaire brothers who's wealthy parents died in a plane crash leaving five brothers to carry on their own pursuits and wealthy people. But it does n't mend broken hearts or heal the wounds of losing your parents in a plane crash, or of hearing that oui had à son who died at birth which related in having one night stands and moving on when your young and still in college. But these actions have consequences and a baby was on the way unbeknownsed to Derreck LaClaire the burden was left squarely on a beautiful Brooke's shoulders, réceiving à letter from supposedly Derreck to the effect that he would n't help and then to go full term and lose the baby at one of these Mother Care homes and then told to leave without à penny, what is a girl to do to survive. By à fluke of nature, Brooke was found in a brothel by Derreck and haunted his dreams to the point to have à PI find out who she was. But Brooke recognised him and was glad of her disguise, with wig and coloured contact lenses. After pursuing her when he found out who she was, she wanted nothing to do with him, not giving in he eventually won her around and when he found out about the baby he was shocked and traumatised knowing she had tried to tell him and had received that awfull letter in reply, which he denies sending, but was determined to get to the bottom of to find out who sent that cruel letter but was delayed by a phone call from Hawaii to say his wheel chair bound brother was in hospital after he overmedicated himself, so he asked Brooke to go with him on his private jet to talk further a bout the problem which they did. Derreck paying off Booke's debts enabling her to stop working in the brothel and enabling her to return to her studies to graduate. But fought Derreck for any sort of further relationship as she was ashamed of being à prostitute and that it would sour their relationship in time and she was so grateful for him paying off her debts that she was satisfied to go and get on with her studies and leave him to his. But he was having none of it and wanted to get to the truth of that awfull lettre Brooke was sent. When he did find out after leaving his brother to recover with his other siblings, he was shocked beyond words to find outa that his mother had sent that oh so cruel letter to Brooke and he was heartbroken that his mother would do such à thing without telling him, or letting him deal with it himself. The next time hé see's Brooke issus to rive her the most amazing news that their baby Eric who Brooke named him was alive and well and living with the person who took her in to have her baby fromMother Care and it was all à scam to sell hall the babies to childless couples and after sedating the mothers in childbirth and then telling them the baby had died indelivery. Brooke met Derreck at the jail after having punched the Man of the couple who stole their baby which he saw and at first glance knew that it was their boy same eyes as himself and hair the golden colour of his mother. Having given their DNA for partenariat reasons and having to wait with such anxiously agonising time to find out and at last they were gazing at their little boy with rivers of tears cascading down their faces in joy not saddness and a family was formed in that moment and the rest is history. Anothera great read.

Oh Dori my heart, I loved this one.
Once again I couldn’t put this book down as soon as i started reading I was hooked.
I am not going to give any spoilers.
This story follows the LaClaire family and this one is about Derrick and oh boy I think I am in love with him ha ha. he is not the relationship kinda guy but he wants one night with Brooke but she turns him away as once he touches her she will break all her rules and he will know who she really is.?
Brooke is a prostitute when she is with a man she shuts of her emotions and feels nothing it is her job, she does it to pay all her debts off then she will walk away like nothing ever happened, her body is not her own it is which ever guys can afford to buy it. I really loved Brooke and when things come to light you just want to hug her. She is such a good character.
It is not a easy road for these two but enjoy the ride so good.
If you love Dori’s books pick this one up too it is so worth the read.

This book had so much potential but I felt let down on too many points to rate it any higher than 3 stars and describe it as "yeah, it's o.k."

The technical writing (i.e. could I read it, did it make sense, was the grammar correct) etc was excellent, the plot flowed well and I loved the idea's behind the book. Brooke was well written but Derrick was a bit cardboard cutout, although he grew on me as the book progressed. It was decent enough for me to bother to finish reading the book, although it was a close run thing.

I had 3 main 'issues' with the story.

1 - The biggest thing for me was that I didn't believe that Derrick and Brooke were in love. Although they did have history from high school, it wasn't like they'd had some huge romance then, and they only had the briefest of encounters now when Derrick PAID for sex with Brooke/Ruby! There were no passionate, emotion filled encounters just sex and then sex again.

2 - Whilst he was supposedly obsessing over Ruby, Derrick committed the second biggest problem for me when he had sex with other women - including another prostitute. OK not cheating as they aren't together but not what I want in a romance novel. Whilst I can accept Brooke's choice to be a prostitute, I'm couldn't really respect the hero using them for his main 'source' of sex. Not to mention as a young, good looking and extremely rich man he would surely not need to pay.

3 - The final thing was that important parts of the plot were rushed through and then 'filler' scenes were used to bulk the story. The shocking revelation - and boy it was a good one - is revealed and resolved in the final two chapters of the book, then we have an epilogue vaguely set 'several years later' when actually there was the potential for more chapters on Ruby and Derrick living and coping with the unexpected change in their lives.

I think I love Derrick!! He might have been a typical hot rich boy as a teen, and very hot and sexy as a youn adult...He has to be the sweetest, most thoughtful man when he encounters a girl from his past.
Brooke is a real surprise too and this is a very hot and thoughtful book!

Second in a darkish trilogy about each of the LaClaire brothers finding his right partner. This one starts with an unexpected reunion in a brothel, with only her recognizing him, her high school "first". An adult, sexually explicit story which grows on you.
