Breaching the Contract (The Conflict of Interest Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
Katerina Dawson knows exactly what she wants from life. And as the new associate at the top law firm in the city, she’s ready to live out her dreams of becoming a criminal lawyer. But going on coffee runs and babysitting kids during the day was definitely not what she had in mind. She knows that anyone else would kill to be in her shoes, but she has to draw the line somewhere. That’s easier said than done, though, when Kat has to confront her handsome boss…
Tristan Channing and Jaxon Bentley run a successful law firm together and the two partners couldn’t be busier right now. When Jaxon suddenly takes a leave of absence, Tristan begrudgingly assumes responsibility of the new associate, the hot new associate, who has curves for days. Needing to keep his distance from her, Tristan sends Kat on needless errands and has her doing work even an intern wouldn’t touch, like picking up his kids. But his plan backfires when he sees his children grow attached to Kat and sees her getting comfortable in his home. It triggers something deep within him, and it feels right to have her there. Will Tristan be able to keep his work and personal lives separate, or will he find that his heart holds the final verdict?

- Reviewed in Australia on 20 September 2017I love Chantal Fernando her writing style, her characters and story lines are always a fun and always an enjoyable read.
This story was no exception I adorded the characters and the story line was a real page turner.
I felt it was milder than her previous works however right up with the best of them.
I loved Kat what a spitfire!!! Her character was easy to like she had sass and intelligence and I loved they way she treated the children.
Tristian is handsome and works really hard and loves even harder.
The spark between the two is there in an instant and doesn't waver one bit. I loved their connection.
The side characters are entirely necessary they bring about the story as a whole and contribute effortlessly.
All up a really quick and enjoyable read that I am sooooo looking forward to continuing on with the series.
- Reviewed in Australia on 9 October 2024This is a quick novella.
I love Chantal's stories, but unfortunately for me, this first book in the series about a legal practice, is the only one on KU.
The meet-cute involves a handsome guy in a suit, dropping his wallet on the street. The woman right behind him, picks it up and gives it back to him.
Widower and co-owner of a law firm, Tristan Channing, has just met the first woman in years who gets his pulse racing, only to discover that the delicious Katarina Dawson, is the firm's new associate.
But fate conspires to throw them constantly together and before long, the temptations are irresistable.
- Reviewed in Australia on 20 September 2017Verified PurchaseIt was a nice short and sweet story. Would have like a back story for Tristin and his wife. The twist came out of blues. Can't wait for Jaxon's story 😊
- Reviewed in Australia on 19 September 2017Ms Fernando's Wind Dragons series is one of my favourite series out there, so the chance to get into her new series early was a no brainer.
Breaching The Contract has a bit of everything. Office romance? Check! Single dad? Check! Adorable kids? Check, check!
Add in an angst free, sweet and sexy relationship and Ms Fernando is on a winner.
I adore Kat. She is smart and sexy and full of sass.
Tristan - he is gruff and downright unlikable at times, however you can't help but fall for him, and hope that he and Kat get their HEA.
This is a sweet, cute, sexy little story and a great start to the Conflict of Interest series. Now off to read part 2
- Reviewed in Australia on 26 February 2018Absolutely fell in love with these characters and love the flow of this series. You have done it again Chantal!!
- Reviewed in Australia on 18 September 2017Quick, sexy, predictable feel good read. Katerina Dawson has landed her dream job as an associate working for Jaxon Bentley at a top law firm. Unfortunately it comes with an added distraction of Tristan Channing, hot, sexy dad of two adorable children and partner in said law firm. When Kat ends up having to run menial errands for Channing she is not best pleased, but as you can guess one thing leads to another and, yep, you've guessed it! The chemistry is off the charts hot with these two, add into the mix two adorable children and I was hooked. There is however a major twist I did not seeing coming. Enjoyable holiday read.
- Reviewed in Australia on 20 September 2017An enjoyable first instalment to this new series by Chantal.
Kat starts out as an associate at a hot new law firm, but can’t deny the chemistry between herself and partner Tristan.
Kat and Tristan have this easy go relationship that allows her to form a relationship with his children, which he never expected.
The story of Kat and Tristan was a great easy read, though we met Jaxon at the start he kinda disappeared without warning so that was abit bizarre but will dive into his book to see what happened.

5.0 out of 5 stars Conflict of Interest!
Verified PurchaseWhat a fantastic start to a sparkling new series!
5 Stars ...
Breaching the Contract is the first debut to Chantal Fernando's 'The Conflict of Interest series' introducing Kat and Tristian.
"Conflict of Interest... arises in Breaching the Contract"
Katerina "Kat" Dawson just landed her dream job, an Associate at Brentley and Channing law firm. Her boss, Jaxson Bentley is one of the most sought after Criminal Lawyer around and Kat was shocked to be picked to work under Jax right out of Law school.
Everything changes when Kat's boss take a sudden leave of absence and leaves her to work under his best friend and partner, Tristian Channing.
Her new sexy boss, but a relationship isn't in her cards.
"They go head to head"
Instead of treating Kat like an Associate, Tristian sends her on errands -- picking up his lunch or coffee to grabbing his kids from school and watch them til he gets home.
Kat is furious, she wasn't hired on as his kids nanny or his personal assistant, even though she's starting to get attached to his children..
Tristian knows not to mix business with pleasure... but there's something about Kat that he wants to explore...
Kat doesn't want a relationship...or does she?
Will Kat and Tristian throw caution to the wind? See where there attraction takes them...?
Find out in Breaching the Contract by Chantal Fernando.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Romance with Just Enough Steam
Verified PurchaseI won my e-copy through goodreads giveaways for an honest review.
Kat is the new assistant lawyer working with Jaxon. She is out during lunch when she notices a nice looking man in a suit has dropped his wallet. While trying to return it to him, she decides that he is arrogant and rude and for some strange reason highly attracted to him. When it is all said and done she is asked out for coffee but slyly walks away without a commitment.
This man is on her mind off and on until she meets him at the firm...he is partner, Tristan. And Kat is totally screwed!
The story flows well and I was genuinely interested in how the story was going to unfold. There is a twist that was unexpected for me. I'm even interested in the second story of the series and I'm not a series person.

3.0 out of 5 stars Huge missing gaps
Verified PurchaseI liked the premise, but I felt like huge gaps of the story were missing. It was really frustrating, and I even double-checked the book to make sure the audio wasn't missing something.

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice start to a series
Verified PurchaseI love her Wind 💨 Dragon 🐉 series so thought I'd give this a try. Glad I did.
Kate and Tristen. She just graduate from college, he is a partner at her new job.
He's an ass when they first meet and continues to be so, until he doesn't. That's when the hot times start.
A quick, enjoyable read.
Gladly getting the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short and Sweet
Verified PurchaseThis book managed to fit a lot into a short story. I enjoyed the evolution of Kat and Tristan's relationship. Some parts were rushed. I would have liked it to take more than two meetings before his kids got attached and the ending felt really rushed but overall I enjoyed the story.
