WINNER OF THE ROMANCE WRITERS AUSTRALIA RUBY AWARD FOR 2018 ROMANCE BOOK OF THE YEAR.

Braxton

Nineteen. There’s something about that number; it not only brought us together, bonding us forever, it also played a hand in tearing us apart.

The nineteenth of January 1996. I’ll never forget it. It was the day we met. I was seven and she was six. It was the day she moved in next door, and the day I developed my first crush on a girl.

Exactly nineteen years later, all my dreams came true when she became my wife. She was the love of my life. My soul mate. My everything. The reason I looked forward to waking up every morning.

Then tragedy struck. Nineteen days after we married, she was in an accident that would change our lives forever. When she woke from her coma, she had no memory of me, of us, of the love we shared.

I was crushed. She was my air, and without her I couldn’t breathe.

The sparkle that once glistened her eyes when she looked at me was gone. To her, now, I was a stranger. I had not only lost my wife, I had lost my best friend.

But I refused to let this tragedy be the end of us. That’s when I started to write her letters, stories of our life. Of when we met. About the happier times, and everything we had experienced together.

What we had was far too beautiful to be forgotten.

It's taken me a week to recover from this book enough to write a review...

I don't think I've ever wished for a HEA for a character more than I did for Braxton. I mean, the man is amazing. Some may think he's too soft, too much of a pussy, that he should cash in his man card, but once you know his story you'll be overwhelmed by how honest, loyal and strong he really is.

The memories, all Nineteen Letters of them, were so beautiful and heart warming not only will you be recounting your own childhood and first love, but also wishing that someone loved you so whole heartedly as Braxton does to Jemma.

Even after a week, I'm still seeing so clearly in my head the climbing of the tree and fishing in the lake. Perry does such an incredible job it's almost as if you're the third wheel at their picnic.

For me though, no matter how emotional and simply beautiful it was to watch Jemma and Braxton fall in love all over again, it was the relationship between Braxton and his father which I found the most touching. Never has a supporting character captured my heart the way Braxton's dad did.

For over 12 months I though Carter, from Perry's book Bastard was my ultimate book boyfriend, but after reading Nineteen Letters and meeting Braxton, he was dethroned. It's going to take a truly amazing character to one day topple him.

I loved this book and will be rereading again. All I can hope is that one day, someone loves me as fiercely as Braxton loves Jemma!

NINETEEN LETTERS: Is a new stand alone Contemporary Romance novel by Jodi Perry. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives.’ In this we meet Braxton Spencer and his wife Jemma.

BOOK TRAILER:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCzZq...

Straight away you feel the love these two characters feel towards each other oozing off the pages. And that’s in beginning chapters, that feeling intensifies as you speed through the chapters.

January the 19th 1996 was the year they met
Exactly to the day nineteen years later they married
And nineteen days after they exchanged vows she’s in a horrific accident that would change their lives as they knew it from this day onwards.

Then the unthinkable happens, an accident changes the course of their lives, just before the accident they were thinking of starting a family, they were in their own wedded blissful bubble. A fairy tale that was written in the stars, best friends since aged seven, soul mates, where one ended the other began, a love like no other.

These two shared everything together. Their first kiss, they lost their virginity to each other, they were never far apart.

Until now.

This author has the ability to bring you to your knees with her words alone, her knack knows no bounds when it comes to bringing us characters that will always have a place in our hearts, and these two characters trampled over mine and left their mark like a tattoo.

All Braxton prays is that he’ll take his wife back in any condition as long as she comes back to him, but what happens when she doesn’t remember him when she wakes up? Her memory has been completely wiped clean, a condition called retrograde amnesia. Back then, I presumed she would be mine forever, but now I know better.

She may no longer remember the love we share, or everything we’ve been through together, but I do. Every moment…Every second…I carry enough love for the both of us.

It’s up to Braxton to bring her back and painstakingly slowly he shows her what they had by writing her letters (nineteen letters), a trip down memory lane in the hopes that something would trigger his wifes memory and bring her back to him. What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten. Your forever boy, Braxton.

In one such letter he leaves a charm bracelet, as each letter arrives at her mother’s where she’s staying since the accident a charm or two is left in each envelope showcasing something significant which ties back to the letter she had just read.

My past, my parents, my husband, my friends, my enemies, my first kiss, my achievements and failures, my likes and dislikes...The list of things I don't remember is endless.

GAH!! The feels, the tears!! 😢

“Oh my god, did you see that light that just flashed across the sky?’ you said, suddenly more alert.
‘Yep, a shooting star.’
‘Oh. I always wondered what a shooting star would look like.’
‘You need to make a wish,’ I said. ‘You always wish on a shooting star.’
‘I wish …’
You paused briefly and I wanted to tell you that you couldn’t say aloud what you wish for, otherwise it won’t come true.
At the time I didn’t believe that anyway, but now I’m not so sure. ‘I wish that you were my forever boy, Braxton Spencer.”

This book put me through the wringer, a roller coaster of epic proportions, every emotion known to mankind I felt, I just wasn't prepared to feel so much, in life I rarely cry so for this author to open up my floodgates of weeping tears had me in a complete mess, like these two characters I drowned in their sorrow, one of a love he wanted to hold onto and never let go, the other down a dark tunnel of a wiped memory.

A friends to lovers romance that had me begging the book gods that they would find their HEA. That she would come back to him. Words can not express how much I loved this book!! These two characters and this book will always have a special place in my heart. Braxton is the kind of man we all hope to find for ourselves.

What would you do if the love of your life had no memory of you? A man tries to win back the love of his life after an accident has her in a coma in this emotional, romantic drama...

OMG. OMG!! What a beautiful book! I finished reading it with tears pouring down my face. Don't worry though - they were happy tears! This was a story of true, undying love that was strong enough to overcome even the most heart-wrenching situation. And seriously... THE FEELS!! This man loved his wife so incredibly much. Just wait til you read it and you'll see what I mean. You can feel it in your heart on every single page of this book. They went through something incredibly catastrophic and painful, but the love, healing, and pure heart-warming happiness that brings this book full circle are absolutely gorgeous. If you're looking for a ROMANCE WITH FEELS, this is it!!

The hero and heroine were childhood best friends who spent every moment they could together and, as they grew older, fell in love. They were everything to each other. They were the kind of couple who everyone knew were meant to be. But after a tragic accident left her in a coma, everything came crashing down when she woke up with no memory of her husband. Even though it was tearing him apart, he knew he had to find a way to help her remember their love so he began to write her letters. Nineteen letters, to be specific. Each one told her a little part of their history, how they fell in love, how much they meant to each other. Each one gave her back a piece of the past she'd lost in hopes that someday, even if she never remembered him, she might one day fall in love with him again.

The blurb was actually what drew me to the book in the first place so I'll share it here:

"The 19th of January, 1996 ... I'll never forget it. It was the day we met. I was seven and she was six. It was the day she moved in next door, and the same day I developed my first crush on a girl.

Then tragedy struck. Nineteen days after our wedding day, she was in an accident that would change our lives forever. When she woke from her coma, she had no memory of me, of us, of the love we shared.

That's when I started writing her letters. The stories of our life. Of when we met. About the happier times, and everything we'd experienced together.

What we had was far too beautiful to be forgotten."

And if that blurb alone wasn't enough, by the time I read the prologue, I was beyond HOOKED on this story. I don't know how anyone could read the prologue and not desperately want to read the rest of this story!

I did however begin reading it rather cautiously, both craving the emotional emersion that I was sure was coming, and feeling slightly scared of it. Emotional reads are kind of like diving into a cold pool on a summer's day. You know you want get in, but that initial contact can be a little intimidating until you finally commit to jumping in.

My heart was in my throat as the officer pulled into Braxton's driveway to tell him that his wife had been in the accident. Barely a few pages into the book and I was already FEELING for this story. And my heart strings just kept on being pulled as I read on.

Bending down, I place my lips on her forehead. “Please come back to me soon.” I lie back down on the recliner and slide my hand under the blanket that’s covering her. I need the contact. Maybe this might help me sleep; I need to be a my strongest when she wakes. “I love you,” I whisper as my fingers wrap around hers. We have never gone to sleep without saying these words.

It's one of everyone's worst nightmares -- to have a loved one torn away, not knowing if they're going to survive. But Braxton was hit with it twice -- once when the accident happened. And then a second time when the relief and sheer joy of having Jem wake up was quickly followed by the panic of realizing that she had no memory of him or any part of their life together. It was like losing her all over again.

I’m not giving up on us. Never. Optimism is all I have right now. We belong together, and in time I’m sure she’ll come to realize that as well. My heart belongs to her, like hers belongs to me.

When the accident happened, I worried she would never wake up, and I would lose her. Not once did I contemplate the possibility that she would wake up and I would lose her anyways.

But I loved his determination to never give up on her. Whether she remembered him or not, he loved her with every part of his heart and soul and he was going to stick by her side each day and try to help her remember everything they'd once shared. The letters he wrote were such a beautiful way to help her regain the memories she'd lost. Even if she couldn't get back her own memories, she was able to experience their story again through his eyes.

Enclosed you’ll find a memory bracelet. For not, it’s empty, but over time you’ll understand why I’ve called it this. Since you’re not comfortable talking to me, I’ve decided to write to you instead. I hope you take the time to read my letters when you’re ready. They’re letters about our past, and of the happier times we’ve spent together. Memories of your life through my eyes. It’s my way of trying to give you back a piece of what you’ve lost. Whether or not these letters lead you back to me, you need to know what we once shared, and what out life was like for us… What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten.
Yours always,
Braxton

My favorite thing about this book was that there is literally not one bit of 'extra drama' to it. There is no love triangle, no cheating, no stupidity, nothing. This is a LOVE STORY. It's about a men who loves his wife more than anything. This is their story. It's a pure love story with nothing else to distract from it and I absolutely loved that about it!

Just because she doesn’t remember our bond, doesn’t mean it’s not there. All those old feelings are buried somewhere deep inside her, I know it. You can’t love someone so completely one day, and feel nothing for them the next. It’s not possible. It’s just going to take time to coax those feelings back to the surface.

I read over the letter before folding it in half and sliding it into the envelope… These letters were supposed to help Jem get back pieces of her past, but they’re helping me as well. She may be lost to me for now, but reliving all these precious memories I’ve made with her over the years will keep me going until I have her back.

Even though so many parts of this story were heart-wrenching, the only tears I cried were happy ones. While this book does deal with saddness, it is ultimately a story of healing brought on by the unwavering strength of true love. I cried at the end and through the beautiful epilogue. It had all the gorgeous heart-warming feels that so beautifully and completely brought this story full circle.

I thoroughly loved this book and highly recommend it to any romance reader who crave reading emotional, heart-felt stories that'll stay with you long after you finish the last page.

Rating: 4.5 stars. Standalone Contemporary Romance

"She may no longer remember the love we share, or everything we’ve been through together, but I do. Every moment … every second. I carry enough love for both of us."

I can't believe I loved this book so much. I don't love cheese, I don't love cliches, I don't love predictable. Lol. I'm a sarcastic bitch most of the time and well, this book is all of those things I mentioned before. Think a mix between The Vow and The Notebook. But this book, man. This book was so amazing! I cried a few times. I laughed. It made me sad, it made me mad. But in the end I was sooo happy for these two characters! So, what do you know, my black heart loves sappy from time to time ❤️

"There’s a gaping hole in my heart that only she can fill. Part of me is missing … the best part … her."

I loved the concept and how the story was told. I loved the letters and how they correlated to whatever was going on with the story. I love that there was no external or unnecessary drama. This was simply about a couple finding their way back or rather falling in love again after her devastating memory loss. And yet, it was very realistic and perfectly paced. So in a way, you get two stories in one, the way they fell in love the first time, and the way they fell in love the second time.

"‘I don’t want to, but I need to accept that there’s a chance you may never come back home.’

I smile at him sympathetically. ‘I don’t think any of us can predict what lies ahead, Braxton.’

I can’t give him hope when there’s no hope to give."

I loved Braxton. Not gonna lie, in the beginning I thought he was a little too obsessed with her but as the story progressed I couldn't help it but fall in love with him. I totally "got it", he was truly amazing. And Jemma, I felt so much for her. To be in her situation and to question everything, to feel so lost. I loved her determination and that she took her time.

"If I loved him as much as everyone says I did, wouldn’t my heart still feel it?"

So, overall I loved this one, a lot. Loved the feels, loved the writing, loved the pacing and that epilogue! One of the most beautiful epilogues I've read recently. Perfection! This is my first Jodi Perry book, but it definitely won't be my last. I absolutely recommend this one if you're looking for a more contemporary romance, epic love story ❤️

"Love with your entire heart while you have the chance, because life is far too precious to waste on any uncertainty. This was our second chance at love. Our happily ever after. Nineteen letters was all it took for her to realise we were meant to be."

Jodi Perry has conquered where others have failed: she made me fall in love with a story containing a trope which is my nemesis—memory-loss. And I’m not too proud to admit I had several emotional wobbles along the way.

description

Whilst it does have the odd moment that‘s a little on the saccharine side, that mattered not because I was swept away by Braxton and Jemma Spencer’s journey. It’s not an easy journey for either husband or wife, but on the flip side nor does is fill you with anxiety, and the true, unconditional love that Braxton has for Jemma shines through on every page as, over nineteen letters, he shares his memories spanning the same number of years.

description Things are nothing like they used to be, and I don’t know if they ever will be again”.

My heart hurt for both—I can’t imagine how I would cope if, god forbid, I was in either of their positions—but with Brax’s patient support and Jem’s strong determination, you’re willing this couple to once again find their HEA.

description He’s my one and only. He always has been, and always will be. He’s not only the love of my life; he’s my best friend, my soul mate, my forever boy.”

Simply put, Nineteen Letters is a love-story within a love-story and though it’s unlikely to lead to me rushing off to grab all the romances out there containing amnesia, it has led to me abusing my credit card and indulging in a bit of a spending spree of more of Jodi’s work, because if they’re a fraction as good as this, I’ll be one happy reader.

I remember the first time I saw the author post about this book she had coming out and she was nervous because it was different from her previous work but oh my goodness Jodi this book rocks it's absolutely brilliant.
The premise of the story drew me in I was desperate to get my hands on it. We start in the present with Braxton and Jemma who are newlyweds and it's easy to see how much in love they are. It's not giving anything away to say that Jemma is in a horrific accident that robs her of all her memories not just of Braxton but her friends and family too.
The journey that the author takes us on will break your heart at times. Braxton's feelings are portrayed so beautifully, we feel his terror at the hospital, his confusion and pain jump off the page. The one thing that is never in question is his love for his wife. His first letter made me cry & smile I loved how we travelled back to all the special moments in their relationship. You will sympathise with Jemma, can you imagine not knowing anyone or anything about your life? Her reactions are exactly how I could imagine myself acting, again Jodie writes this perfectly.
Braxton has stolen a big piece of my heart, he's romantic. supportive, tender and loving how I wish for a man like him. Jemma was a great character too but Braxton stole the show in this book his beautiful descriptive letters reveal so much about him whilst telling their story,
Jodi has written a stunning beautiful story that you won't regret buying.

What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten...

WOW!! If you're looking for a swoontastic hero and an epic love story, look no further! 😍😍😍😍 This book was EXACTLY what I was hoping it'd be. And look at how stinking cute the cover is!!!! 😍

This is the story of Braxton and Jemma, two childhood friends who grew up together and eventually fell in love. I LOVED the setup. Braxton writes Jemma nineteen letters in hopes of giving her some of her memories back after she's in a car accident that leaves her with amnesia, and in those letters we get to see how they fell in love. From the beginning it was easy to see how perfect they are for one another. Braxton and Jemma are the definition of soulmates.

description

And when Jemma gets in an accident that strips her of her memory, Braxton is devastated.
It's only a matter of time before she asks for more [of her material things]. Before I know it, I'll be left with nothing. Nothing but memories and a shattered heart.
The axis of my world is no longer aligned, and until that's rectified everything is going to feel out of kilter.
Braxton's whole life revolves around Jemma. I should say that if you don't like super sweet heroes, this might not be for you. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE heroes like Braxton. He was definitely the shining star here. He was COMPLETELY dedicated to Jemma.
I carry enough love for both of us.
You were no longer the little girl with the missing front teeth who stole my heart; you had grown into a beautiful young woman who owned me completely.
He didn't pressure her, even though it was killing him to be away from her, and everything he did he did with her in mind.

description

I also appreciated how the amnesia aspect was handled. I loved how realistic it was.

The only reason I took off a star is because there were a few sections that were repetitive. Also, the last chapter (before the epilogue) felt rushed. I actually had to stop because I was a little confused. Maybe I just expected a smoother transition. But the epilogue more than made up for my qualms and I'd definitely still recommend this! Especially to safety gang readers 😉
Love with your entire heart while you have the chance, because life is far too precious to waste on any uncertainty.

5 - ...What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten... Stars!

2018 has so far been a year of new discoveries on the author front for me, and right up there with the best is Jodi Perry.

There’s a part of me that knows my heart still belongs to him…

Nineteen Letters is a story about a couple working their way back to each other, after one of them suffers from amnesia. Braxton and Jemma Spencer, have known each other since they were young children, they have grown up together, dealt with loss, love and all the in-between as the years have progressed. What began as friendship, then morphed into a relationship in their teens, and then a lifetime commitment as adults.

He’s not only the love of my life; he’s my best friend, my soul mate, my forever boy…

So how do you deal with the loss of the person you loved, when they are still essentially right in front of you, but have no memory of you, or the life that you have built together. In Brax’s case, write letters. Letters that take you, and Jem in their reading back to their childhood adventures, the teenage discoveries, and the decisions and situations they have gone through in adulthood.

I hate that her face no longer lights up when she sees me… I hate that she no longer smiles that beautiful smile.

The path for them both isn’t easy, and being told in dual POV, really give you the opportunity to see the situation from both their perspectives. Jem, unwilling initially to entertain the fact that this sweet, charming amenable, albeit a little bit broken man, is the one she chose to marry.

Whether or not these letters lead you back to me, you need to know what we once shared… What our life was like for us.

Brax was the focus of this book for me, even though it was Jem who suffered the accident and resulting amnesia, because the author really took the time to explore how everything affected him, and not just how Jem was coping with it all.

"Even in the tough times I never gave up hope that you’d find your way back to me."

I found the end a bit cut and dried, and would have liked it to take a little longer to figure out things than it did, especially when you take into account the massive effort the author took to make the progression between the two of them back to a relationship really slowly, it was a bit of a shock to have it finish in ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ style.

I don’t want these letters to ever stop…

Stunning storytelling, and even though it’s only February, I have a feeling Nineteen Letters will be in my top ten for 2018. I cannot wait to read more from this author very soon.

If I ever found myself having amnesia or die, I wish I have my Braxton remembering me like in Nineteen Letters. Maybe not only with 19 letters but thousand even million love letters. That would be lovely!

Nineteen Letters just beautiful. Unlike other romance story, the story can easily relatable in real life. The love letters are just swoony. I even falling in love with Braxton myself. He is such beautiful man. Miss Perry done a great job creating Braxton. I want to cry and laugh at the same time. The only shortcoming is the length of this book is too long. It can be shorten 4 hours at least.

This is a very emotional read, really sad at times, but it is worth reading.

Jemma and Braxton are first childhood friends, then best friends, then lovers and then a happily married couple. There has never been anyone elso for the two of them, only each other. Then, an accident destroys this happy couple’s life, as Jemma wakes up with no memory.

The book is all about Braxton’s efforts to win his wife back, trying to remind her what a beautiful and unique love they shared.

"What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten."

Jemma is annoying at the beginning, pushing everyone away, but then, Braxton’s letters find a way to her heart and she slowly tries to win her life back.

"When the accident happened, I worried she would never wake up, and I would lose her. Not once did I contemplate the possibility that she would wake up and I would lose her anyway."

The number 19 has a special place in their lives and if you ask me it was exagerrated. I remember telling myself, “Oh 19 again, come on, isn’t all this coincidence too much?”, but whatever...

Braxton is the ultimate ideal hero ever (maybe too perfect???). His patience to win back his soul mate is remarkable. His letters – each of them – made me cry.

"She may no longer remember the love we share, or everything we’ve been through together, but I do. Every moment … every second. I carry enough love for both of us."

The ending is not a fairy tale ending, but it is still good and happy.

The writing is good. The present is tied to the past with 19 letters giving us a glimpse of their past relationship.

If you are looking for an emotional read, this is it but if you like your emotional books with some hot scenes in it, you won’t find any here... No hot scenes at all, which was kind of a disappointment for me, too.

Another criticism I can make is that the book has no tension or angst. It is what it is, very predictable. The writer's other novel, BASTARD, for example is full of angst, tension, emotion and steam in it, it is full of everything. I recommend it more, compared to this one...

5 -- “What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten.” -- stars

I have loved every single book Jodi Perry has written so far. I only start them when I know I’ll not be disturbed, because I don’t want to stop reading when I start. It wasn’t any different with this book. Jodi Perry can write whatever she wants and I know I’ll read it. I loved Nineteen Letters so much! It’s sweet, beautiful and touching.

Braxton and Jemma became neighbors when they were children and they have been best friends since. They were inseparable. They slowly fall in love with each other, but both of them don’t dare to admit it because their friendship is too precious to them. When Braxton and Jemma do become a couple, they are a strong and solid couple. Both of them can’t imagine a life without the other one in it. They get married.

Their love and marriage were suppose to be forever, until Jemma had an accident and she woke up not remembering anything. Braxton doesn’t want to give up on Jemma and their love. He decides to write letters about them and hopes that maybe Jemma will remember something.

Jemma is strong, nice, independent and a little lost. She can’t remember anything and everybody is a stranger to her. She isn’t sure what to do, but she fortunately has many people that care about her and will never give up on her. Jemma slowly starts to live again. She also spends more and more time with Braxton. She can understand why her old self fell in love with him and she hopes that her new self will too one day.

I love Jemma, but Braxton has my heart. While I can’t imagine what Jemma was going through, I felt for Braxton too. He remembers everything and the love they shared. He wants his wife back, but he knows that there is a possibility that that won’t happen. Braxton is patient, caring, gentle, loyal, passionate and loving. He’s an incredible man! He’s always there for Jemma. There isn’t a thing he won’t do for her.

After just the first letter, I couldn’t wait for the next one. I love all the letters that Braxton wrote for Jemma. That man can write! He wrote from the heart. The letters were beautiful and emotional sometimes. They told us about Braxton and Jemma’s pasts. Reading how it all started and progressed, had me rooting even harder for a second chance for Braxton and Jemma or for Jemma to remember something. What they had is truly too beautiful to be forgotten.

From the very first words to the very last this story has completely consumed and captivated me. When I wasn't reading because I was having to cook dinner and other boring household things I was constantly thinking of it. What would happen next?, what would the next letter be?, how would it end?

From around 6% in and in relative parts of the entire book I found myself leaking tears. I became so emotionally attached to Jemma and Braxton that I couldn't help myself, they just kept on coming. At times I even felt my heart go giddy or break. This book has stirred some of the most powerful emotions and reactions I have ever had from a book before. I only just read the last words and I felt like I had to write this review while it was still fresh and raw inside me.

This book is absolutely worthy of a movie and I could literally see the moments playing out in my head like a film. I really think that this is as good as one of Nicholas Sparks books if not better. Move over Mr Sparks because Miss Perry is most absolutely hot on your heels!!!!

If you want to read a story about true all consuming love and a mans fight for it then this is absolutely the story you need to read. Everyone dreams of a love like this, Braxton may not be the usual alpha male that people usually love to read but you will fall in love with him and his undying love for his wife.

I want to give this book 10 stars.
This book goes through the highs and lows of some highly true life experiences. The characters are absolutely their very own and the story lines captures you and pulls at every nerve ending. Be prepared to have tissues at the ready because there is no way any real reader will get through this book tear free. This author amazes me and i cant wait for more whatever is next for them.

When I heard Jodi Perry was writing a new book, I was beyond excited.
Nineteen Letters was totally different from her previous books and this book just goes to show how versatile and what a brilliant author Jodi is.
I couldn't get enough of this beautiful love story of Braxton and Jemma. I finished the book in a couple of days and could have very easily re-read it again straight away.
My heart ached for Braxton, our beautiful male lead that would do anything for Jemma, that lost her memory after a car accident and couldn't remember anything about her life. He wants to help her remember and writes her letters in hope that they will spark a memory for her. These were my absolute favourite thing to read. I could have read 119 of these letters and never get tired of them.
These letters takes us on a journey of their lives together and I felt like I was there watching them through it all. I love the authors descriptive writing of every scene, so I could picture it perfectly in my mind. Perry's writing is truly captivating.
Be prepared to go through a roller coaster of emotions while reading this book. I laughed, I cried (a few times), I felt the characters frustrations like I was going through it myself, I swooned, I cheered and I loved. It taught me to not take things for granted and reminded me of the importance of our loved ones.
Tell your mother, grandmothers, sisters and best friends, all to read this book, because everyone needs to be taken on this beautiful journey and it's one I won't forget in a very long time.
Loved it!

On the 19th January 1996 two little children, Jemma and Braxton meet for the first time. After nineteen years knowing that they were soul mates, they married and were well and truly in that honeymoon period. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and nineteen days later it was back to work for the couple.

Driving to work in the pouring rain, Jemma is sideswiped and horrifically injured, not only physically, but her brain has been injured too causing her to have amnesia.

Upon waking from an induced coma, Jemma doesn’t know anyone including Braxton. But he won’t give up on the love of his life that easily.

Over the months Braxton writes Jemma nineteen letters reminding her of their time together. Each letter shares a moment. He also gives her a charm bracelet and a charm with each letter.

Can Jemma fall in love with Braxton all over again?

Nineteen letters is one of the sweetest books that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. It is so beautifully written and realistic too. It gives you butterflies whilst reading and a lump in your throat. It is like being on an emotional roller-coaster.

Told in dual perspective Jemma and Braxton are just a delight to get to know. Jemma understandably is scared, worried and anxious. She doesn’t know who anyone is. She doesn’t even remember who she, herself is. That must really be scary to wake up and to have a ‘stranger’ holding your hand, declaring he’s your husband and telling you how much he loves you.

The same can be said for Braxton. He is worried and scared too. He loves his wife and will do anything for her. He’s loved her for nineteen years and he’s not giving up on their love now. The only thing he can think of to get her to come back to him is to write letters to her, hoping that they will get her to remember him.

This book is so moving and uplifting too. The characters are so vivid and the tough times that they both were going through were so heartfelt. I was hooked from the beginning and was totally engrossed in finding out whether this perfect couple could once again be together.

This is just an adorable story that needs to be read.

OMG!!!! What a fantastic read. This book has it all. Please be prepared when you read this to expect tears not just sad but also happy tears. Brax and Jem have a relationship that every little girl dreams of when she thinks about growing up and marrying a guy. The hell that Brax has to go through to try and win his wife back is no smooth ride. Although Jem has no recollection of her life deep down her soul and body do in a way. I have been very lucky and fortunate enough to be one of the early people to get a read through this book. Jodi you have done a wonderful job portraying the characters in this book. I am excited and can't wait to read the reviews that are to come on this book as I truely believe you will win over a lot of hearts with this story.

Four and a half stars
Jemma and Braxton meet as children when Jemma moves in next door. Braxton was seven and Jemma six. They became best friends and over time more than that. When they married both Braxton and Jemma thought they had everything they wanted everything they dreamed of – a forever love. But nineteen days after their wedding tragedy struck. Jemma’s memory of her family, her best friend Rachel, her husband and the love they shared is gone. Will it ever return? Will Jemma and Braxton ever be able to get back to what they had? In an effort to help Jemma remember Braxton starts writing his wife letters. Nineteen because nineteen has been the significant number in their lives and their love.
Told from both Jemma’s and Braxton’s points of view, I thought when I first started it this might be too soppy and a real tearjerker. I wasn’t sure I was the right reader for this. I wasn’t sure I would persist. But it didn’t take long before this couple and their story absolutely won me over. Yes, it is unashamedly a love story. The blurb says, ’If you love Nicholas Sparks’ The Notebook you will devour the compelling, emotional storytelling of Australia’s Jodi Perry.’ Now usually I disregard such claims as so often they are way of the mark In this case the publisher has absolutely nailed it.
Yes, perhaps it is soppy and a tearjerker but I lapped it up. Braxton is an absolute doll and I really liked Jemm and her warm and supportive parents, Christine and Stephen, who are having their own marital problems. I also liked the relationship between Braxton and his father who has Alzheimer’s. So there is more than one story going on here though it is definitely Braxton and Jemma who command the reader’s attention. Set in Australia it mentions a rainbow lorikeet, platypus and ocean, yet I never really felt a strong sense of a distinctive place. It could have happened anywhere in Australia. That little quibble aside, I smiled, laughed and cried my way through this one. The episode with the goats had me laughing and sent me to the computer checking this fact. Guaranteed to make you laugh that bit.
A beautiful love story with endearing characters, I came away satisfied at the end. So glad I read it. If you enjoy a good love story give this one a go. You won’t be disappointed.

ARC REVIEWED - FOR MY HONEST THOUGHTS

I am a big fan of Jodi L Perry and have read many of her books which are hot, gripping reads and when I saw this new one which was so far from her usual style I was concerned it was not going to be for me - How wrong I was if I could give this more stars I would because this is one of those books that deserves to be noticed, read, treasured and will stay with you forever!.

Nineteen Letters will draw all of your emotions, you will cry tears of joy, sadness, happiness and this story will give you hope - and live each day, every minute to the full because you never know when life will take it all away.

Brax & Jem will steal your hearts along with many family members - A truly unique storyline that is a must for every kind of reader - I Highly recommended this one.

Favorite Quote:
It was evident that you cared about me, and you have no idea how much I needed someone like you in my life. It was comforting to know that you had my back, just like I had yours.

We became inseparable that day. I had only taken the risk to protect you, and had no idea I would come out the other end as the school legend. I would've done it again in a heartbeat for you, Jem. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you.

That day our bond was cemented in stone forever.
Wow, what kind of review do you leave for perfection? I can see why it might be considered similar to The Notebook or The Vow, but personally, I loved story 100x more and I think it blew them out of the water. This read is honest and raw, it doesn't hold any punches because it's meant to make feel along with the characters. It's told in a dual pov in such a way that you fall in love with Braxton and Jemma separately as people, but also together as friends turning into so much more. The gifts he gives Jemma accompanying the letters? Ugh, it was too sweet to handle! I could read endless books about this couple and it would never be enough. From the depth of emotion this author makes you feel in the time it takes you to read this book to the amazing character creation she managed to perfect, you have to read this book because it's one of those incredibly flawless reads.

This book by Jodi has seriously showcased her ability of a writer that seriously needs to be watched.

With the cover giving me the whole Jodi Picolut feel, her writing of this beautiful, heartfelt story gave me goosebumps with such a sentimental and touching meaning behind it.

Nineteen holds such meaning and depth behind the story of Braxton and Jem.
Every monumental date in there life revolves around this date, it signifies there relationship from friends to lovers.

The incorporation of the Letters was perfect. They were well placed throughout the book and not at all over done.

Braxton and Jem are a beautiful couple that I enjoyed reading and feeling as if we were Jem and watching there relationship take shape.

Jodi has outdone herself and deserves a bottle of wine or 2..

What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten.

ARC received from Hachette Australia for an honest review

This book is just stunning. From the first word to the last, I was enthralled with Brax and Jem's story.

Right from the get go this is a very emotional story. I think my heart fell to the floor at about the 10% mark and it took the whole story to bring it back to my chest.

We are put through the wringer right along with our lovelies in this story.

Brax is just all kinds of wonderful, and my heart broke over and over for him, however, every chapter, every letter let me hope just a little bit more - just like him. I just wanted to give this beautiful, devoted man a hug and tell him it would all work out.

I really couldn't put this book down (although I did, just to sleep!).

It was beautiful, heartbreaking yet heartwarming being taken on the journey as these soul mates found their way back together through Brax's 19 letters.

This has become one of my favourite reads of 2017, and wish I could read it again for the first time.

Can't wait to see what Ms Perry brings us next.

Wow, just wow. I'm not even sure where to begin with this review, it's taken me all day to write it up. I won't give any spoilers, just my honest thoughts on this beautiful masterpiece.

Nineteen Letters was heartbreakingly beautiful, an emotional book that seeped deep into my soul. Each letter broke my heart a little more whilst making me laugh out loud and their memories, it was such a perfect and powerful storyline that will stay with me forever. It let you feel exactly what each character felt when going through all their pain, suffering and happiness, it took you on an emotional rollercoaster that you just couldn't help but love.

“What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten.”

Gemma and Braxton were, ARE the perfect couple, they work so well together and reading how they react with each other just made my heart flutter even as friends, their friendship was absolutely beautiful and left me wishing I had a friendship like theirs. The secondary characters were also amazing, Rachael, Lucas, Christine and Stephen. All the love and support they show for the two main characters is incredible, their support system is solid and amazing.

This was a book about second chances for two lovers who were torn apart by a terrible incident. It's a storyline I've never read before and I'm glad I had the chance to. It was really interesting getting to see how Gemma felt through those hard times and what it felt like to be the loved ones around her.

I love when a book is so descriptive like this one that it makes you feel everything. I just can't say how amazing it truly was and I'm really happy to have read it. This was my first read by Jodi Perry and it certainly won't be my last.

5 *19, Braxton, Jem * estrelas

description

description

description

description

I am excited to have discovered this author and cannot wait to read more from her. This book was so perfect and reminded me why I love to read. I felt transported by the experience of a love story that span over 19 years and did not want it to end.

Braxton and Jemma are newlyweds whose relationship feels so easy. They are consumed by the love that they feel for each other. Nineteen days after their wedding, everything changes. Jemma is seriously injured in an accident. She is comatose and Braxton is vigilant and willing her to wake up as he never leaves her side. She does wake up, but she has no memory of her life. She is finding it difficult to be around her family as it is clear that there is a bond, but she does not know them and asks for space from Braxton because she cannot return the feelings that he clearly has for her. Braxton is devastated, and the story begins.............

Braxton realizes that his presence is making Jemma uncomfortable, so he sends her letters to help create the memories that the two have shared together in the last 19 years. The letters are beautifully written and reveal their feelings, secrets and vulnerabilities beginning with their first meeting when she was 6 and he was 7, until present day. Braxton is so strong. Jemma is the world to him and while he is trying to re-create the love story that the two experienced, he is also managing the care for his father who has early stage Alzheimers. The irony is not lost on him that his father's memory is sporadic at best and his wife has no memory, but he is determined as evidenced in how he closes each letter:

What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten

Jemma begins to look forward to each letter and finds that her feelings are changing and you can feel the elation that Braxton feels each time she asks a question about a story he has shared, or gives him a smile. You are rooting for a happy ending and then you find that you have read 75% of the story and you're feeling that anxiety that the story will end. I wanted more, and I suspect that this will be a book that I will re-read again and again. Thank you, Ms. Perry, for reminding me why being transported by the words on the pages can be an amazing experience.

What Braxton and Jemma shared was an unbreakable bond; they were true childhood sweethearts that went through an almost unbearable tragedy. While Jemma was confused and slowly rediscovering her life I, as the reader, got to completely fall in love with the perfect Braxton. He was so caring, forgiving, incredibly romantic and completely devastated that my heart broke and healed again and again through the emotional letters he wrote detailing their past. I loved that Jemma got to fall in love with him all over again!

A very well written and beautiful love story. This is the best I've read from this author so far, looking forward to what she comes up with next! 4.5 stars
