I want to thank the author, Melissa West, and Lyrical for providing me with a copy of this book to read and give an honest review. Receiving this book for free has in no way altered my opinion or review.

I really enjoyed Melissa's first book in this series. I am not a Southern girl. On the contrary, I grew up in Brooklyn, NY, so I'm about as city as it gets. But there is something about the South and how things work that are so different it is totally intriguing. That's how I felt when I read this book. Like I just had to know more: more about the South, more about horses, more about everything. And the picture West paints of the stables and the land and the horses did just that for me.

I also love a good book where attraction might start things off, but then things grow into this complicated and amazing relationship. That's what West did here. She took two people who absolutely had the chemistry to go at it and she made them back up a bit and slowly come together. It was like watching a flower grow, only not quite that slow! LOL!

Kate was one spunky and independent girl. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to do what she needs to get it. If that means keeping away from things she knows are not good for her she darn well will do it. But there's something about Alex Hamilton that pulls her in. And while she wants to try and stomp out the fire that seems to burn whenever she around him, it's almost impossible for her to do so. But she's not dumb with her heart. She keeps it closed because she doesn't want it hurt. Yet, miraculously, Alex is somehow able to crack it open bit by bit and inch his way in. And Kate can see a side of him no one else seems to see: a dedicated and hard working man who wants to succeed.

I was so glad to see this book was about Alex. I really enjoyed meeting him in Racing Hearts. There's always something about the youngest brother that gets to me. I want to know their story and how it will end. Especially when they are the reckless type who really want to turn things around. And being that he's had his fair share of mess ups, I loved seeing him come into his own and take charge of his future. Of course, he has some rocky patches and a tragedy that slow him down. But he overcomes and is able to prove he is the right man for the job.

West's descriptions really bring me into the countryside of Kentucky. I may be a city girl, but I spent quite a few years in the country of Ohio, so it was nice to have that picture in my mind once again. And her way of approaching the complications of love in this book are fantastic. There's such a push and pull between the characters who know what they want but are just a tad bit weary about going and getting it.

Overall, this is a quick romantic read that pitches in just a little bit of heartbreak so the characters can see what they truly have in front of them. I love West's writing and will read anything she choose to put on paper. If you're a fan of sassy and fun romance, then you'll love this series.

Wild Hearts was a beautiful and heartfelt read, loved it.

I enjoyed watching Alex and Kate relationship develop. They shared a deep connection, Kate was the perfect partner for Alex, she made him feel loved and valued, something he struggled to believe in himself.

Overall Wild Hearts was a well written second chance love story with characters that draw you in and leave you with a heart full of happy feels. Alex and Kate truly deserved their happily ever after.

I previously read West’s Sci-Fi book Gravity and I absolutely loved it, one of my favourite parts of Gravity besides the wonderful writing and the vivid world she created was the romance. I loved the connection and the slow burn romance between the characters, so I was really hoping for West to write a romance series because I would snap that up in an instant. Enter West’s Hamilton Stables series – a southern romance with lots of kissing? My prayers have been answered!

Wild Hearts follows Kate, a teacher who wants to find a love that lasts and she knows that the youngest of the Hamilton brothers, Alex the sinfully delicious playboy doesn’t fit the bill but can her head convince her heart? Alex wants to be the man he knows he can be, he wants to prove his family wrong, prove he isn’t a fluke and that he can be successful breeder for the family business.

I loved the idea of Alex and Kate being a couple, they have great chemistry, banter and a connection that’s intoxicating-- I just wanted to push them together from the very beginning. They make such a cute couple and you can't help but root for them to make it.

Overall Wild Hearts was such a fun read; I actually finished it in two sitting's because I couldn’t get enough of the story. I can't believe I didn't discover this series sooner and I plan on reading Racing Hearts (Hamilton Stables #1) very very soon. Fans of romance will love this new series that is filled with fun, romance and wild spirited boys. I will definitely be carrying on with the series, the next book features Nick the more secretive of the brothers and I can’t wait to see what West has in store for his story.

By now you should know of my love of Melissa West’s stories. When I saw the ARC go up for Wild Hearts, the second book of the Hamilton Stables series I immediately requested it. I loved the glimpses of Alex we had from Emery and Trip’s story so I was super excited to get into his story.

Alex Hamilton is the youngest brother and seen as the reckless one. He also has a reputation with the ladies and has done his best to stay away from Kate but he can’t help it. He is drawn to her and loves everything about her. Unfortunately he isn’t in a place where he feels he can give her what she deserves in a relationship.

Kate Littleton is Emery’s best friend. They have the kind of friendship where they tell each other everything and the fact that she can’t tell her about her feelings for Alex is making things very difficult. Kate knows that Alex isn’t a “relationship” guy but she can’t help it – she is completely drawn to him. As they start to build onto their friendship and eventually become more, they both realize they are taking a risk but they don’t care.

I loved these two characters together. One of the best things was the fact that Kate saw more in Alex than he and his brothers did. He is determined to make his role with the breeding function of the stables work. Showing Trip that he can do it and do it well, Alex won’t let his focus be pulled away from his work. But it is important to say he isn’t only about work. The times when he would come to help Kate build out the set for the school kids were the best. A number of things happen in this book that both push these characters together but also pull them apart. In the end, they both have to figure out what is most important to them and then also, how they can balance it all to have everything they want.

I truly love this series and you don’t have to read them all in order but it definitely helps a bit because you know about all the other things going on in the lives of the Hamilton’s. If you are looking for a story that has plenty of romance, swoons, and family, definitely check this series out. Melissa West tells fantastic stories and everyone should be reading them.

Thanks you to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy!

"You want a man who reads to you on the beach. Who knows better than to step in to help when you're struggling with a project. Who gets that you need to figure it out yourself. A man who never opens your car door but always shares his popcorn. Or any food really. A man who's comfortable enough in his own skin to let you brag when your team wins instead of his. A man who makes you want him so badly you never grow tired of him. Even after years and years together, you're still in love."

I just adore Melissa West and her Hamilton Stables series. I've been dying to get my hands on Wild Hearts and could not have been more excited when I saw it up on NetGalley for request.

Wild Hearts is the second book in the Hamilton Stables series, but it can totally be read as a stand-alone. Wild Hearts follows the story of Alex and Kate. Alex is the youngest of the Hamilton brothers, but he also has the worst reputation. He's always been seen as wild and reckless and no one really takes him seriously. But, all of that is about to change as he is offered the chance of a lifetime to manage the breeding operations at Hamilton Stables. He's now got to focus and prove to everyone that there is more to him than what they've been seeing. All of this sounds great until Kate enters the picture. Kate will prove to be one of his biggest challenges.....Kate knows that Alex is bad news and this knowledge comes first hand. However, when she sees the new improved Alex, she can't help but wonder if he's really changed. She knows that she should stay away, but the pull between the two of them is almost impossible to fight. Will Kate be willing to take a chance on the new improved Alex? Or will Alex prove to be the same heart-breaker that he was before?

I absolutely loved Wild Hearts. This story is the perfect example as to why I love Melissa West's writing. The story that she created with Wild Hearts is absolutely captivating and completely refreshing. The characters are real and easy to connect with. Alex and Kate shared amazing chemistry. I loved the push and pull between them. I loved watching their relationship slowly develop from barely being on speaking terms to an amazing, real love.

Wild Hearts was a quick and easy read for me. It's one that can easily be finished in one sitting. I was hooked from the very first page, and didn't want to put it down. It was so easy to get lost and consumed by Kate and Alex's story. I loved every second of it. It gave me everything that I wanted and more.

Wild Hearts is beautifully written and has a lot of heart. This story will make you laugh. It will make you cry--Yes, I had some tears in my eyes towards the end. This book will make you swoon and fall in love. And in the end, you will be left with a huge smile on your face. If you're looking for a story that is full of heart, family, love and is light on the drama, then look no further. I definitely recommend checking this book out.

Kitty's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Well, Melissa West is a new-to-me author. The storyline of horse racing and breeding really caught my attention. My dad loved the “ponies” and taught me, at a young age, how to read a race program. Unfortunately, he didn’t usually win unless there was a color that I really liked or the name of the horse jumped out at me. So, I do understand the “science” behind picking a winning horse, well, if the horse is maybe wearing purple?

All kidding aside, the storyline was very interesting unfortunately, the characters fell a little short. Kate was sweet as pie … sometimes a little too sweet, a little too understanding. As for Alex, well he was all woe-is-me throughout most of the story. And, when he finally did step up to the plate, tragedy stepped in and he totally wussed out. Just when the chance was there to be the man that his father wanted him to be, told him that he could be, he became another person entirely. It also upset me that he didn’t stand up for himself, that he allowed Kate to lie and keep their relationship a secret, that he allowed himself to be talked-down to and ridiculed by his brothers Trip and Nick.

Now, they both had their good points too. Alex really was trying to be the man that he thought Kate needed and Hamilton Farms needed. If he just believed more in himself and stood up to those around him, he definitely would have been that man. And, he was absolutely adorable with the children in Kate’s Third Grade class. With the kids, alone with Kate … that’s the Alex I would have loved to see throughout the story. And Kate, she was a true friend; an honest and open person, until it came to Alex. She knew what she wanted in her life and honestly felt that Alex could be the person to give her that. She was truly his champion but couldn’t go to the people and tell them exactly the kind of person he really was because of her promise to him. The “what ifs” in this story are many and it makes me wonder just where the story would have went if things were changed up just a little bit.

Now, who really intrigued me was Nick. His story seems like it is going to be a good one. Maybe we’ll find out what really happened in his past and what the future holds for him and Hamilton Farms. I am looking forward to seeing where Melissa West is going to take Nick and the rest of the family. I will also give kudos to Ms. West for the way she wrote the storyline, how she developed her characters. Granted, I wasn’t totally impressed with them but she made you understand why they were like they were, why they ended up in the places that they did. I think it could take a good author to write characters that aren’t what you expect or think they should be, who are interesting but totally against what you think a “hero” or “heroine” should be. Maybe the easy way out of writing a story is writing that alpha male and giving the reader what they expect and a man that will become the “book boyfriend” of the week. And, maybe, just maybe, it takes a wonderful author to write the characters that you don’t immediately like but that grow on you.

Alex was my favorite from the previous book, so I was thrilled to see he was getting a story. Especially when that story is with Kate.

I loved the two of them together. They have an easy, playful relationship and I enjoyed that their story was mostly fluffy. There is some heartache and angsty times, but it's just a little.

I didn't care for how Alex was treated by his family or how Kate was constantly warned about him. It felt a bit overused. Overall, it was a cute story with a perfect grand gesture and epilogue. I look forward to reading Nick's book.

This is the second story is the Hamilton Stables series. As mentioned in the Goodreads synopsis, it is a stand alone however it appears the characters in each installment are the Hamilton brothers. So read it as a series or by itself, the enjoyment factor will be there regardless.

If you are looking for a contemporary romance that is not too long than this is the story for you. It offers the sizzling chemistry, the misunderstood "bad boy", the "good girl" and plenty of angst. Also, you have horses in the mix and you have the recipe for an enjoyable read.

The romance between Alex and Kate is believable from the beginning. Although you pretty much know the formula and how it will play out, the story didn't feel like a clone of others in the genre. Due to the short length I can not go in to too much details or I will give away the story.

If you like this genre of book and do not want to commit too much time then this is the book for you. Long enough to have some substance yet short enough that you can fit it in to your busy schedule

One could never go wrong with a Melissa West book.
Wild Hearts was all kinds of swoon and fun! Definitely read this if you're looking for a new book boyfriend! (Alex Hamilton... sigh. Even his name makes you fall in love with him immediately.)

Kate is such a sassy and badass heroine. She made Alex see himself for who he truly is, not just some playboy who can't handle responsibility. They're so perfect for each other! I love the chemistry and the easygoing banter between the two.
Alex really proved himself in this book. I really liked him the first time I met him in Racing Hearts but this book cemented my love for him. We all need an Alex Hamilton in our lives. Actually scratch that, we all need the Hamilton brothers in our lives.

I seriously cannot wait for the third book!
Oh and I almost forgot... You are a ROCKSTAR Melissa West!!

This was a sweet, quick romance that was very easy to read. Both characters were solidly developed and likeable. I enjoyed the worldbuilding and setting. The writing was great and it flowed well. Nothing amazingly different about the plot but overall it was well executed. I especially loved how Alex interacted with the kids from Kate's class and the scene at the end with the play was really endearing - it could have been cheesy, but it wasn't. I did find the last twenty percent of the book a bit rushed, but overall this was a great few hours entertainment.

“Alex peered down the hallway, then took her hands and pulled her to him, kissing her lips once, then twice, like once would never be enough. She grinned, feeling all too much like a love-sick school girl, but she couldn’t help it.”

4.5 fun, fresh stars! Such a cute, quirky and romantic book!

Alex Hamilton is a smooth talking ladies man, but where he excels at picking up ladies, he fails at the family business. Wanting to prove himself he promises to commit to managing the breeding operation, but he has to give up the ladies, and only focus on working. Totally easy right? Ha that’s what he thinks until a girl from his past comes flying into his world. Kate knows all too well how Alex is, but seeing his hard work with his family's business she knows he’s mentally mature to be her man. And well she’s hooked. Neither can deny the attraction they both feel for each other, but when something tragic happens will it tear them apart or bring them closer together.

Wild Hearts is such a cute and fun book! I was hooked the minute I started reading and I couldn’t put it down. I loved the characters and the development of their stories!! I’ll definitely be reading more from this author very soon!

At times being the baby of the family is the roughest spot to be in. Alex can tell you that is true. Yeah, he’s made mistakes, big ones. And he’s learned from the past. Enough that he wants a chance to be what he isn’t right now… a better man. He’s given that chance when he takes over the breading operations at the family business. One catch though – he has to be devoted to the job, no fading off to something or someone else. Absolute and complete focus or he’s out.

Since he was determined to prove that he had what it takes to be successful to his family but mostly to himself, that might not have been such an impossible task if it weren’t for sweet Kate. If there was on thing in the world he wanted his hands on aside from the breeding operation, it was Kate.

Kate knew she should stay far away from Alex. Yet, the man kept drawing her in, especially when she noticed the change in his attitude and his determination. She was strong and stubborn enough to take the risk, because this was a man she could see herself with forever – the man he was becoming. She didn’t like going behind his family’s back, she was proud of him and his accomplishments but reluctantly got why he couldn’t lose focus on the job – for now at least. But the time would come and they’d show the family just the kind of man that Alex was capable of being.

Wild Hearts is one of those stories that grabs you by the emotions and simply will not let go. I loved that Kate was Alex’s champion at every chance she got. He needed someone to believe in him and his lady did. Sure, they had bumps in the road and there were times when it looked like nothing was going to work at all. But they hung in there, they made it together through stuff that many couples would have broken from. I have to admit that after a very short while it got real old real fast the way his brothers put him down, talked down to him or made fun of him. A bit of sibling ribbing is expected, it’s family, but it went too far, in my opinion – almost like they needed him broken, and that’s not what family should do.

Overall, I enjoyed Alex and Kate’s journey. They stood firm and showed everyone just what true love can do for a man or a woman. I would definitely recommend Wild Hearts and the entire series to any reader who loves Romance and a dream worth fighting for… don’t forget the tissues, you’re gonna need them for this one.

I received this free eARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I was so excited to get this from NetGalley!! I have been a huge fan of Melissa West's novels, so getting this was a highlight in my day!

I'm a sucker when it comes to stories about horses, even though I've only one a horse one time in my life. I think it's the adreneline I feel when they are racing. I especially love the TV show "Wild Fire" that has been finished for a long time. I still re-watch it every year :)

This novel didn't have a lot about the racing aspect since it was Kate as the main character instead of Emery, but Alex is in the horse business so we still had frequent visits to the horse stable.

Kate is a great character. She hit it on the nail about what she wanted: someone to love her forever and treat her like a princess every once in awhile, but still treat her like an adult who can do things for herself. Sounds complicated, but you'd be surprised at how many females feel the same.

And Alex was the perfect guy for her. He knew how she was and the complicated feelings about romance she had without her having to tell him. Both characters are very good at reading others around them and that is why they are perfect for one another.

I really enjoyed this novel and I think fans of Melissa West, the Hamilton Stables series, and anyone who loves a good contemporary romance novel will fall in love with this second novel in the series! Can't wait for the third novel to come out now to see how the third brother will fair in the game of love!

Wild Hearts by Melissa West has finished first place across the line in the Hamilton Stables series. I would give this book 10 stars, if it were an option. Melissa has won my heart with this series, she has became one of my favorite author of all times. This story will pull on your heartstrings, make you smile, shed some tears and fall in love with Alex and Kate. Kate is a school teacher, strong, fun and goes after what she wants and Alex, hot, rich and a ladies man, so get ready for a new book boyfriend. This book and series is a must read for any romance reader, I promise you will fall in love with the Hamilton brothers. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I loved this one! Alex was a fantastic character. As the youngest of the Hamilton brothers he has always worked hard to find his place in the family. His charming personality and wild ways haven't helped him build any trust between himself and his brothers but he's determined to show them what he's made of and that he's serious about the breeding program on the ranch. He accepts his brother's challenge of no women until the program is well established to prove his point. Too bad the attraction between him and Kate Littleton flares it's brightest now of all times!

This one is well written and it's a great story. Definitely one I recommend.

Sexy Hamilton brothers, take two!

Get ready to swoon on the youngest Hamilton brother at Hamilton stables! Alex Hamilton is known as being a bit cavalier in his relationships. He is also not taken very seriously by his family when it comes to his part of the stable business which is managing the breeding. To prove his commitment to the business, he promises to focus solely on the upcoming important decision he must make for the stables without the distraction of women. That is until he sees Kate Littleton again and realizes he's going to be spending quite a bit of time with her during the preparation of her best friend's wedding to his brother. When he sees Kate, memories of times past flood his mind and he can't get them out of his head. They were never a "thing" per se. So why does he feel like a kid with a high school crush every time she comes near?

Kate Littleton is a focused school teacher. She had a fling once and vowed not to let it happen again. It takes too much of a toll on her heart. But every time she sees Alex Hamilton her heart takes over what her mind has decided. She shouldn't have such strong feelings for him. He didn't owe her anything and most likely doesn't even know that he stole her heart.

This book has just the right mixture of sweet romance and playfulness I find needed in a great read. Alex likes to crack jokes about things that make Kate blush. Things that no one knows ever happened. And in typical Alex fashion, he says them at the most embarrassing times.

I can't wait for the rest of the world to fall in love with Kate and Alex like I did! Get ready to laugh and swoon!

3 1/2 solid star...

This is second series of Hamilton Stables and first series for me. His family was in business of breeding, training and etc. The story is about youngest of Hamilton, Alex. He was being called black sheep of the family due to his behavior before he was settling with his family to become to be a horse breeder. He was starting new and everyone was doubting his ablility especially his brothers. They continue to put him down and don't encourage him to do better even though he was trying his best.

Kate is sweet, kind and wonderful school teacher, and considered good girl by everyone in her town and who should never mix with Alex. When Alex and Kate first saw each other, they were pull into each other.
But things doesn't go way it should. Kate's best friend and her fiancee, Alex's brother Trip was against them seeing each other. Everybody thought Alex is bad influence on Kate but she sees him differently. She was the only one who believed him and loved him for who he really is.
Alex and Kate secretly seeing each other and they were sweet to each other without telling anyone even her best friend. Alex continuously hides his relationship to everyone until he can rove himself to his brothers.
when they were ready to reveal things take turn for the worst. Alex was pushing everyone away and closed himself from Kate and push her away.
It was interesting story with horses. I did like Alex and Kate's relationship but he was constantly put down by his brothers through out.
I did enjoy reading and I might read upon next one..

One of the themes I love reading about besides contemporary romances which I am a sucker for second chance romance love stories is books that contain horses. Wild Hearts by Melissa West contained both of those as we meet the youngest brother Alex Hamilton - his family own Hamilton Stables and are one of the wealthy families of the area . Wild Hearts
Hamilton Stables Novel (Book 2)
Melissa West

5 Stars

Contemporary Romance

I think Melissa West has just become one of my favorite authors! This was a great book! Three brothers all different in their own way. And a father with high expectations. Leaves the youngest wondering if he can live up to everyone’s expectations, running his part of the family business.

Alex, is young carefree, after years of not committing to anything. He’s finally ready to show them he’s committed to do his part in the business. But they have little faith.

He gets himself into a bet with his oldest brother, taking a vow of celibacy for 6 months, then Kate his old girlfriend comes back into the picture and he’s torn between the bet and trying to start a relationship with her.

Will they reunite? Will his brothers finally see him as an equal? And will he be able to mend the past issues with his Father before it’s too late?

This is such a great read! I couldn’t put it down!! And I just wanted it to go on when the end came. Warning… You might need tissues!!

A small town romance between a horse breeder and a teacher! Wild Hearts broke my heart. I found it cute and lovely - really liked Alex and Kate together and squeeked whenever they stared at each other (which was most of the times! eeeep).

I'm addicted to Melissa's Hamilton Stables series. I love horse riding and there's not a lot of books about this sport and the things happening backstage. Also after finishing Harts of Dixie, it just reminded a lot about it AND I WAS REALLY COOL WITH IT. I'm such a big Zade shipper and Alex reminded me a bit of Wade; playboy, flirty, but really damn serious about his job. And Kate reminded me a bit of Zoe as well; tiny, always sassy and flirting with Alex and though messing up, she's always there to care about him. She's the very best thing that will ever happen to him to be honest.

I still love Trip and Emery lotssssss, but I really enjoyed Alex and Kate's story - knowing they pretty much loved each other from the start is always a good factor for me in books *check mark emoji*

Full Review at: What's Beyond Forks?

Wild Hearts is the second book in the Hamilton Stables series by Melissa West. This is a stand alone book, but I still want to go back and read Trip's story in the first book. The Hamilton Brothers are pretty irresistible. I can see myself having one big fictional crush on all three of them.

Alex is pretty much a player, but there's something about Kate that has stayed with him. Kate wants to get Alex out of her mind, but it's not been so easy for her either. Poor Alex is trying to grow up though. But, everyone expects the worst from him. He's earned that reputation over the years. Wild Hearts was a quick read, because it drew you into the lives of Kate and Alex. I felt like I got to know them both very well. Their relationship was adorable, and I truly enjoyed watching it grow.

WILD HEARTS is a charming little story set in Kentucky with fun characters. I liked Alex and his struggle to find his place within his family and their horse-breeding business. He no longer wants to be the family playboy, he wants to prove that he can handle the business and longs to be taken seriously. And that means sticking to work and putting fun and women on hold.
Unfortunately, he can't stop thinking about Kate the teacher, the sexy woman he met over a year ago, the one that gets his heart pounding. The chemistry between them is fun and sassy so is the banter between them. Kate wants someone to love, the forever kind. Alex has to put business before pleasure, but the heart wants what it wants.
The story is fresh and sweet. I enjoyed this stand alone by this new to me author who just got a new fan. I can't wait to see other stories by Ms. West.

I was given a review copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Wild Hearts by Melissa West is the second book in the Hamilton Stables series and just like the first book, this was an enjoyable read.

Alex knows his way around women and he’s good at it. Some might call him reckless. Kate knows and understands his reputation, but doesn’t care. These two together start off as friends but move toward something so much better. I really loved how much Kate believed in Alex, even when his family didn’t. Kate sees’ the real Alex and that’s exactly who Alex needs in his corner.

The story itself is well-written and well thought out. Highly enjoyable read.

When it comes to sex – is going cold turkey really the answer? Apparently, Alex Hamilton thinks so, if he’s to prove to his family that he’s got what it takes to manage the family’s horse breeding operation. An operation where there’s little room for error, and needs all his focus, if he’s to make it successful. However, there’s just one problem — Kate Littleton. She’s a distraction he doesn’t need, yet, one that proves difficult to stay away from. Read More

Wild Hearts was a great book, and the first book I have read in the Hamilton Stables Series. I enjoyed the type of story it was, there was minimal drama and full of adorable times. I really enjoyed reading Alex and Kate’s story. It also made me want to read the first book and I know I am now going to want to read the next one.

I am a sucker guys with kids and having male characters with kids is no different. I enjoyed every scene where Alex was helping with Kate’s class. I think it made me enjoy his character made than I originally had.
