Get ready to fall in love with this new standalone sports romance from New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr.

He's the newly drafted quarterback.
Hot. Arrogant. Too sexy for words.
Ready to score.

I'm an athletic intern, and the coach's daughter.
Driven. Determined. Prepared to conquer the world.
Completely off-limits.

The NFL is full of rules. Rules I've never broken. Never challenged. Never even scratched--until the day Lucas Carrington crashes into my life with his hard body and I-don't-give-a-f*ck attitude.

After I almost injure my father's star player, I volunteer to make sure he's in top shape. At first, it's hell. I don't like his cockiness, his easy smile. Don't like the way he oozes sex. Or how his penetrating eyes follow me everywhere.

That doesn't stop me from wanting him.  He's meant to be a distraction--something to occupy my mind for these precious few remaining hot summer nights before I'm forced to leave football behind forever.

I know what we're doing will lead nowhere good. I know we're crossing the line. And I know my father will never understand.

None of that matters.

But maybe it should.

Rules aren't meant to be broken.

Or are they?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Hot Stuff (stand-alone). Fast- paced & sexy forbidden sports romance!

Hot Stuff (stand-alone) follows college student and athletic trainer Gillian Whitney aka Strawberry Fields during her last internship with the NFL team her father coaches.

After she graduates she is going to get a regular job and settle down. But Gillian is not prepared for the team’s newly drafted quarterback, cocky bad boy Lucas Carrington.

Helping Lucas nurse an injury puts them in close proximity. Too close to ignore their intense connection. Too tempting not to taste the forbidden fruit. They break all the rules, right under the watchful eye of team, family, the media and daddy coach.

Seven words to describe Lucas Carrington: Angry, cocky, lonely, focused, reflective, noble and enigmatic.

Seven words to describe Gillian Whitney aka Strawberry Fields: Determined, loyal, impressionable, easy-going, trusting, private and driven.

Hot Stuff, told from dual POVs, is a sports romance with stolen moments and secrets rendezvous between two lonely souls with painful pasts. Fast-paced, sexy, sweet with a pinch of angst. It ends with healing and closure.

Review at Of Pens and Pages.

Kim Karr is back with a new steamy sports romance starring Lucas Carrington, the new quarterback of the Chicago Bears, and Gillian Whitney, an athletic trainer intern and the daughter of the coach.

Lucas Carrington wants to leave Chicago and never look back, but that plan turns to dust when the Chicago Bears picks him in the drafts as their first-string quarterback. When he goes to training camp, still feeling a little bitter, he realizes his position isn’t as secure as he thought. He needs to stay in top shape, step up his game and have a change of attitude if he wants to become an official member of the team.

When the gorgeous woman he’s flirting with literally knocks him off his feet (with a water cart), he’s worried it would ruin his chances even more. It’s a good thing she’s trained to help him get better. It’s just too bad she’s actually the coach’s beloved daughter.

Gillian Whitney is back in the Chicago Bears’ training camp for the last time before she graduates and moves on to work in a different facility. Her last year proves to be interesting when she ends up injuring the new star quarterback with her water cart because she was too busy ogling him. She knows she can’t entertain him and her desire to get to know him, but there’s just something about Lucas Carrington she can’t resist.

They know what’s at risk and know they’ll go their separate ways after training camp, so they agree to have fun until she leaves. But sneaking around and praying no one catches them isn’t the only thing making their no-strings agreement complicated. As they spend more time together and open up to each other, they’re wondering if they should end it after Gillian leaves or try and become something more.

Wow. I swear the sexual tension between Gillian and Lucas seeped through the pages of this book! My heart was beating so fast during their tango of “will we or won’t we”, and it doubled when they finally hit touchdown. *wink wink*. We have two strong characters both determined to succeed in their careers and devoted to the people who made them who they are find their way to each other. It was sweet to see them bond over their mutual love of football and hot to see them sneaking around and enjoying each other’s company (among other things, heh)

I think this was the first sports romance I’ve read where the author discussed the technicalities of football and its behind-the-scenes, and personally, I absolutely loved it. I know little about American Football (it’s not as popular as futbol here in the Philippines), so it was interesting to read what goes on at training camps, how many coaches are needed, and many more.

I loved seeing them both grow as characters and become better persons than they were when they first started. To see Lucas let go of his hang-ups, for Gillian to realize what she really wants, and for them to find their way back to each other.

Although I have to admit it frustrated me that the men in Gillian’s life disregarded her opinion and made their own decisions for her and her happiness based on what they think she wants. I know Lucas and her dad mean well, but I wish they actually listened to her.

The story has its fair share of angst—especially on Gillian and her father’s side—but the story is filled with steam, humor, character growth, and men in uniform. Forbidden romance and sports romance readers will enjoy this sexy new romance from Kim Karr.

descriptionGreat cover on this one. Obviously, it is a great representation if the story. It has good composition and title work as well. Although "I" would have placed the author's name below the title. *lol*description

descriptionI enjoyed this one but I didn't love it as much as I hoped I would. It felt slow to me, and I found myself wanting to skim over the pages and pages of football talk. A bit too much football talk in my opinion which hindered me connecting fully with these two characters. I think I needed more interactions between them to get onboard with the "I Love You(s)."

description

That aside, the writing was still fantastic. The sex scenes hot. I laughed a little. I cried a little. There was little angst and no OW/OM drama. The secondary characters were interesting (I'd love a novella featuring Gillian's father) and the two main characters extremely likable. Lastly, it was all wrapped up in a couple of sweet epilogues.description

Hot Stuff was a lighthearted, sweet and steamy sports romance about a quarterback and the athletic trainer/coach's daughter he falls for.

Lucas Carrington has been waiting for this moment his entire college career. The moment when his name is called as the new draft pick. Unfortunately he doesn't expect the team that drafts him to be the Bears and to stay in the town he wants to get far away from.

To add into the mix of things he doesn't expect is to be knocked over his head by a beautiful woman. Literally. When the gorgeous blonde that he's had his eyes on knocks him out with her water cart, the last thing he expects is for the beauty to be completely off limits to him as the coach's daughter. But when the knock also makes his existing injury even worse, he has no choice but to allow Gillian, who's also an athletic trainer on internship, to nurse him back into fighting shape.

The chemistry between them is undeniable and in the midst of will they, can they, they begin a forbidden romance that soon begins to turn into something neither of them anticipated.

Hot Stuff had all the workings to be a great read, and it had all the ingredients for it. Unfortunately somewhere between all the sports jargon and football technicalities, it began to loose me a bit. I also struggled with forming any connection to the main characters. I can't place my finger on why exactly, but I just never got there. It just felt very lackluster to me. I wanted to love this book because I always enjoy Kim Karr's books, but sadly this one fell in that 'in-between' limbo. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. It was an entertaining read, but also not one I'd remember. It kind of faded into the haze of all the other sports romances I've read with nothing to really make it stand out.

If you're in the mood for a steamy sports romance, definitely give this one a go. Just because it didn't quite hit the spot for me, doesn't mean it won't for you.

A new sports romance… hell yes! Sign me up. I love a great sports romance; there’s just something about these hot and athletic guys that draws me in from the start and I want get to know absolutely everything about them. If you are after your next read to be a fast paced, sexy, forbidden sports romance then I would definitely suggest one clicking Hot Stuff, because it is sure to satisfy your craving.

Lucas lives and breathes football and has been recently drafted as the quarterback for the Chicago Bears, much to his dismay. Chicago is Lucas’s home soil and he wants nothing more than to leave Chicago and be drafted by the New England Patriots.

“And let’s not forget I was here because I loved to play football.

Because it was my life.

What I had to remember was now that my head was on straight – I had to prove it. Prove that I was here to play professional ball, and only that.”

When Lucas is drafted by Chicago, he has a slight chip on his shoulder and quite a bit of attitude too. However, Lucas knows in order to keep his dream alive and secure a contract with the NFL, he has to pull his head in or risk the possibility of being dropped and missing out on his dream.

Gillian is not only an intern athletic trainer, but is also the coach’s daughter and therein lies the problem… she is completely off-limits. When Gillian is responsible for injuring the new Chicago Bears quarterback during their summer camp, she has to take charge and help to nurse him back to full strength.

The intensity and sexual chemistry was off the charts and it kept me completely engaged. I loved the forbidden aspects of the two main characters and the anticipation of what was going to happen. Will both Gillian and Lucas risk it all to be together?

Ok… so I’m not American and know absolutely nothing about the NFL (much to the disappointment of my husband) and the football aspect of this story was a pretty high priority. When I say I know nothing I mean it. I had to actually google New England Patriots and the Chicago Bears and do some research whilst reading. One thing I did find out during my research was that Tom Brady is the quarterback for the New England Patriots and I was so happy because I actually knew of an NFL football player, but I think it has more to do with who he is married to. My reason for this little titbit is that I know nothing about American football and I still adored this story and these characters Kim Karr has created for us to enjoy.

If you are a fan of sports romances and forbidden love stories then definitely one click this, because I am sure you’ll devour it as much as I did. It was angsty, hot and will make you swoon.

What can I say other than that Hot Stuff has become one of my favorite reads from Kim Karr! It was light, easy and fun. If you’ve read Sexy Jerk, then you might remember Lucas Carrington as he’s Nick’s baby brother. Destined for the NFL, football is his life and he can’t wait to join a team anywhere but in his hometown of Chicago. So when draft day comes around and he gets the call, imagine his utter disbelief and disappointment when he’s drafted to the Chicago Bears. Unhappy, miserable and irritated, he’s off to a rough start with his team, but thanks to some good teammates/friends, a solid coach, and the girl of his never-before-dreamed-of dreams, he makes the most of his opportunity.

🏈 Hot jock with a decent head on his shoulders
🏈 Said jock isn’t necessarily a manwhore. All prior activity is mentioned in passing and he doesn’t have a nasty reputation
🏈 This jock also happens to not rule out the possibility of commitment
🏈 The heroine is likable, personable, charming and enchanting
🏈 The story moves fluidly with plenty of plot and character building
🏈 The plot was not only realistic, but enlightening with respect to the behind-the-scenes elements of football

Hot Stuff was hot and steamy with tons of secret romance to whet anyone’s appetite. I’m a die-hard Kim Karr fan but even if I weren’t, I’d be one-clicking this book today!!

Lucas has just been drafted as a quarterback for Chicago. Football is his life, but he SO wanted out of his home city. He was dreaming of New England.
But it is what it is and now he's fighting with everything he has to secure his spot on the team.
Enter Gillian. She's the coach's daughter and the team's athletic trainer intern.
She's the one helping Lucas to not land on the injured list in his first NFL season - because it was kinda her fault he got hurt in the first place.
Huge attraction on both sides, but neither can risk their future for a little training camp fling... or can they? And will it just be a little fling????

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH GILLIAN & LUCAS?
WILL THERE BE A HAPPILY EVER AFTER????
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

Adorable!

I loove football and this was just perfect. I started reading the book the day of the first game of the new NFL season and it got me all fired up for later that night! ☺ Even though my Gronk and his Tom lost :(

Lucas is this extremely sexy & cocky college football superstar....

description

But now here in Chicago, he has to prove his worth. And more importantly, he has to prove that he's not only this cocky college hero. He needs to take his career seriously.
And starting something with the coach's daughter is not really going to help his reputation....

I loved reading this book.
It was funny, sexy, adorable, a bit sad and frustrating and moving.
Perfect!!!
90% of the story takes place at the team's training camp in Florida. So the book is a lot footbally - maayyyybe a tad too much for non-football-loving people! ☺
And it might've been a bit too ... slow for me? Not really slow. Things are happening. And I loved all the things. ☺ But ... I didn't really feel a connection to Gillian and Lucas in the beginning - and I didn't much feel the feels between them either. BUT - that might also be due to my mood that day :/ No idea. I realllllly liked the story!! And it definitely got better the more I read!
Don't let me scare you away.... it was an adorable football romance!!!!

‘I was his star player. She was his daughter.’

Gillian is spending the last few weeks of summer as an athletic trainer intern with the NFL Chicago Bears, who were currently in their summer training camp. She has spent her entire life involved with the NFL, her father used to play and he is now the coach of this prestigious team. She hasn’t known any other way of life since the death of her mother when she was a young child.

Gillian has plans to head straight to college to finish off her training and then will hopefully find her dream job in a place far away from Chicago. For now though, she has a job to do here but unintentionally injuring the new star quarterback was not part of that plan.

Lucas Carrington had dreams of being drafted into the NFL but not with the Chicago Bears. When the opportunity comes up to play for them he feels like he has no choice but to take it or risk not being picked. It would be fair to say that he needs to work on his attitude if he wants to make it in this team, the coach has made that very clear to him.

When he finds himself injured, and not by playing football, he comes face to face with Gillian Whitney. She caused this issue for him and she is determined to fix it. She knows that her dad hand picked Lucas for his team and if anything were to happen to him, she would never forgive herself. The team needs him, her father needs him.

As Gillian works closely with Lucas (hot stuff) to make sure he is in top shape for the upcoming season, there is a lot of heat in the air and it has nothing to do with the summer weather. A slow burning, simmering attraction that they are both finding hard to ignore. In fact, they decide to indulge in each other, a summer fling if you like. They both know she is leaving at the end of training camp and he will need to focus on the season ahead so a bit of harmless, hot sex won’t make any difference to that right?

Sneaking around and hiding what they are doing from her father is not very ideal but Gillian doesn’t want to do anything that compromises Lucas’ position in the team. He is her dad’s Hail Mary and nothing can come in the way of that. However, as we all know, it is hard to keep emotion out of sex and can often mean a bit of a rethink on what you agreed up front. Both of them are reconsidering how this arrangement will play out at the end of summer.

Unfortunately for Gillian, outside influences make the choice for her and ‘hot stuff.’ Sometimes people do things with good intention behind them, thinking they are looking out for you or protecting you from future pain. Gillian’s love of football flows through her veins, just like her father. He may wish a different life for her but this is the life she loves, this is where she wants to be.

This was a fun weekend read for me.

4.5 TOUCHDOWN stars!

Lucas Carrington wanted to be drafted into the NFL, he just didn't want to be picked by the Chicago Bear, but soon after the draft he changes how he feels especially when he meets Gillian, one of the athletic trainer interns.

Gillian Whitney has grown up around footfall, so none of the players have ever caught her eye, until the new quarterback Lucas shows up. Oh, did I mention that her father is the head coach for the Chicago Bears, you know, the same bears Lucas plays for.

Ah, I love a good forbidden romance and this one was all kinds of forbidden! So of course I was rooting for them from the very beginning.

I found this story to be sexy, sweet, with a bit of heartbreak along the way. I very much enjoyed this book!

Lucas Carrington lives and breathes football. It is supposed to be his ticket out of Chicago and to be independent, have money, and follow his dreams. When his plans don't quite pan out as he expected, he finds that even getting a shot in the NFL is not a sure thing and he will have to continue to prove himself and stay out of trouble. He has a tendency to have an attitude and has some lingering issues from his past.

But trouble finds him anyway at training camp in the form of a sassy redhead named Gillian. She is totally off limits as she is not only an athletic trainer intern, but also the Head Coach's daughter. She's fiery, driven, and tenacious, but usually a rule follower.

They don't meet in the best of circumstances, but the more time they spend together, the more their chemistry and attraction grows. But acting on it could have serious repercussions.

Lucas has the ability to give her whiplash due to his mood swings. He doesn't want to want or need her. He is used to keeping woman at arm's length, not getting attached, and certainly not sharing real intimacy. He needs to focus on the game and keeping his quarterback spot on the team. She can't just just turn her feelings off and she has her own plans. There is so much back and forth and even sideways it seems. They take one step forward and two steps back. They are also fully aware that when camp ends their lives will drastically change.

I felt for Lucas. He was torn between the love of the game and a woman. He really struggled because he wanted it all, but never really believed he could have it and at times did not think he deserved it. And Gillian had to deal with men making decisions for her in her best interest and she wanted to have control over her own life. They can't seem to function without each other, but there doesn't seem to be a way to have it all either. And all along they are risking getting caught and it blowing up in their faces.

This was a fun, sweet, steamy, sports and forbidden romance with likable and well developed characters, and just the right amount of angst, emotion, humor, and swoon. I liked getting more with Lucas' brother, Nick and Tess from Sexy Jerk. I loved Lucas and Nick's brotherly bond and relationship. The dynamics with the coach, his daughter and Lucas added a layer of risk and drama to the story. And his roomie, Thor, was a fun, big and burly sidekick. I enjoyed the dual points of view and how it was a football romance that actually did focus on football. I really liked this couple and was invested in their outcome.

When it comes to emotionally-driven sexy reads, Kim Karr is my GO TO! She gives her readers the perfect blend of angst, sexy, and sweet, and she ALWAYS leaves ME with a huge smile on my face! The swoon factor has been kicked up a notch with HOT STUFF and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I was HOOKED from the beginning and I was ADDICTED the whole way through. This sexy and passionate sports romance was the PERFECT ESCAPE for me and I can’t wait for everyone to sink their teeth into Lucas Carrington!

“I would take a bite of the forbidden fruit standing in front of me. And God help me, I hope I wasn’t going to burn in hell because of it.”

HOT STUFF has everything I love in a romance. The tropes alone had me extremely giddy to start - forbidden romance, sports romance, quarterback and the coach’s daughter. You may have read a similar storyline before, but let me tell you, Kim Karr always puts her unique and sexy twist on her reads. First of all, I absolutely ADORED these characters. First up we have Lucas Carrington - hot, cocky, arrogant, and undeniably sexy. Next we have Gillian Whitney - strong, beautiful, super sweet, and full of heart. Together these two had an incredible connection. The fact that it was forbidden didn’t take away from the pull they felt towards one another.

HOT STUFF is the PERFECT READ for football season...meaning while your significant other is watching the game, you can escape with the likes of Lucas Carrington! Can you tell I’m not a big football fan?! But for real! You need to pick this up. Anything by this incredible author is a MUST READ in my book!

Daddy's girl, Gillian is an intern trainer for the Bears and as the coach's daughter has always been treated as off-limits by everyone on the team. That is until she runs over Lucas Carrington (the new quarterback) with a water cart. Something sparks between them....aw! Their forbidden romance just makes things hotter. Unfortunately, Gillian's internship is temporary and they will be forced to say goodbye, until then, can they keep their relationship a secret?

This was super cute. Yes, predictable in parts, but still very entertaining. I shipped Gillian and Lucas from beginning to end. Smut factor was about a 3.5 out of 5 - there was a nice balance between steamy scenes and plot. It wasn't just all sex all the time.

Hot Stuff is the stereo typical hot jock who uses woman for a good time but never calls...until her. But she is the coach's daughter...

Trouble with a capital T. What starts as a way to ease tension spirals out of control. (See what I did there..spirals..he's the QB. Seriously, it was cute. I'm totally unappreciated.)

Lame jokes and self promotion aside, Hot Stuff is a slow burn with some yummy tension. It's a football story and with the matching weather here I couldn't help but enjoy it.

Lucas doesn't ask for much, well technically demand, “I do, to be inside you, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start the foreplay early.” That made her smile and blush. “Oh, and have those lips ready,” I winked. “I want that proper kiss.” Lucas is a man with stamina, "...dumbfounded that he could actually be ready to go again so quickly. “You can ask how I’m already getting hard again, it’s okay,” he grinned." Lucas is just all sorts of sexy, "He nipped at my lip. “For you, maybe. Do it again and I might just have to spank you,” he practically growled when he spoke, and then he gave me a warning smack on my butt." I loved this book, Lucas was sexy and sweet.

Review by Lisa Kane

I love hot football romances! In real life, I don't even watch football, but for some reason those wide shoulder pads, tight abs and thick thigh encased uniforms check off all my boxes!

Lucas Carrington has dreamed of this day. The day he will get drafted to play for the Patriots. He and his older brother have sacrificed everything to get to this point. So when a twist of fate leads to Lucas being drafted as the new quarterback for the Chicago Bears, he sucks it up and accepts. He wants to get out of Chicago, but it looks like he is here to stay. But his crappy attitude just might lose him his big chance.

When it turned out football contracts weren't as ironclad as I had so naively thought, I got a new and improved attitude, and fast.

Gillian Whitney is almost done school. She'll have her doctorate in athletic training and more than likely will lead a normal life other than in football. That's what her father wants for her. She, on the other hand, was raised in the world of football, her dad was a former hot shot player and is now the coach for the Bears.

Football wasn't an option, though. Even if I could get a permanent job in the field, my father insisted I stay away from it. He didn't want me spending anymore of my life on the road. The guilt he felt for the years we'd done just that was enough to make me agree, even if begrudgingly so.
Personally, I'd love every minute of it.

Lucas and Gillian's first meeting is unconventional to say the least and he gets injured as a result.

"Hey, there, Strawberry Fields," he said, with a wink.

Gillian feels a ton of guilt since it kinda sorta was her fault and she's determined to get him back in fighting shape. Lucas might be attracted to her, but she's the coach's daughter and def off limits!

This insanely hot, flirty, bold player with a brooding side was my father's golden egg.

Work together turns to playing together which means hiding out their relationship together. How can they keep business separate and still be together? There's lots of angst and heartbreak. Score!

Closer. I needed to be closer. I leaned my forehead against hers. "Please, Gillian, tell me what I need to do to make things right and I'll do it. Anything. I swear."

** Spoiler Free Review**
Just when I thought I couldn't fall for another charterer Kim Karr write about one that swooned me. Meet Lucas Carrington, who is he you ask? He's the arrogant younger brother of Nick Carrington and soon to be an NFL player.
Lucas Knows what he wants. He has always dreamed of being a Quarterback for the NFL, for any team EXCEPT the Chicago Bears for personal reasons. At this time Lucas is a prime choice for many teams. I just wont say which and I wont say who he wants. He gets a call during the draft picks and Nick right there with him, encouraging him. Lucas has 2 goals the 2nd is to make Nick proud. He has been the only parent Lucas has ever known. Big brother is watching as Lucas takes the NFL world by storm. BUT there is someone who knocks the wind right out of him. Who? I cant say. BUT just know Lucas learns alot more then just learning how to grow up....Great book Kim

Finally, a book that was more than 3 stars today!

Hot Stuff is the third book of the series Sexy Jerk World. However, when I was looking at this book on my Hoopla app, it told me it was #1 - so, awkward!

Anyhoo, I still loved the audio and the characters. Even if they made stupid decisions sometimes. Then again, I guess love makes you do all kinds of crazy stupid things.

In this book, you will meet Lucas and Gillian. It started off being a forbidden kind of romance because he was the upcoming star quarterback and she was the coaches daughter/trainer. Their chemistry was amazing and I loved their little smutty moments. However, I absolutely despised them breaking up. I thought it was for the dumbest reasons. Congrats, he picked football over her?

All of a sudden, they end up together because they realized it was a stupid ass mistake? Ugh, frustrating but what the hell - I shipped the heck outta them! I'm glad that I dove into this book and now i can't wait to dive into the previous books and the rest of this series!

Hot Stuff by Kim Karr
“The Quarterback and the Athletic Trainer, 5 stars”

I love Karr. To me it seems like each book is better than the last. Hot Stuff is so far, my favorite. I adore sports romances so going into this story I knew I was going to enjoy it but I ended up loving it more than I thought I would. She balanced the world of football and love seamlessly.
Gillian has always loved the game of football. Growing up her dad was a hot shot quarterback and grew up on the road with him. All he ever wanted for her was a normal life, but that’s not what she wanted. It’s her last training camp before graduation and it’s a tough one. She’s supposed to say goodbye to the life she loves for the life of normal her father has always craved for her. Only she gets a little side tracked by her father’s shining star quarterback, Lucas. Gillian has never been with a player but maybe it’s time to change things up.
Lucas has had one goal for as long as he can remember, get out of Chicago. He thought the draft was his ticket out of town only he got drafted to the Bears and is stuck in the city he grew up in. Lucas knows the rules and isn’t about to break from them, until he sees Gillian. They were like magnets that’s couldn’t be broken apart. They drifted towards each other without a thought. But what will happen when Lucas’ coach finds out his star player is in bed with his daughter?
I loved everything about this couple and the secondary characters. It fed my need for sports and love. It’s probably my favorite sports romance of 2017 so far. Do us all a favor and dive in to Hot Stuff, you won’t be disappointed.

4.5 STARS

As always, Kim Karr created a swoon-worthy hero and a strong, relatable heroine from beginning to end. I loved Lucas and Gillian! Loved them individually and even more so as a couple. I loved how much they cared for each other to the point that they were willing to risk everything just to spend time together. Dating the coach's daughter was not just off-limits, but Lucas was essentially risking his career, one he had worked very hard for his entire life. He hadn't ended up where he wanted to initially, but he was right where he was meant to be.

Once I got into this book, I was all in. I was invested in Lucas and Gillian and wanted to see how they would figure out their not-so-slight (at all) predicament. I loved the coach, but man, I was just as anxious as Lucas and Gillian were and I was hoping for the best outcome possible.

Now, the reason this isn't a full 5-star book for me is that while I really did like the book, I do wish there had been a more of an emotional side to Lucas and Gillian's forbidden romance. I felt like the story was there, their love was there, I just wasn't always fully feeling their passion, especially during their alone time.

That said, I do recommend this book, very much so! I have been a huge fan of Kim Karr since she published Connected, so yes, grab it! If you're in the mood for a steamy sports romance, this is definitely the book for you! 4.5 Stars!

Lucas Carrington entered the NFL draft with one thought in mind: to get out of Chicago. When he is drafted by the one team that won’t move him out of his hometown he goes through a phase that leaves him in danger of being cut from the team.

Gillian Whitney is one of the trainer interns for camp. She lives and breathes football thanks to her father, the head coach. But her father wants her to have a normal life away from the travel and upheaval of a professional sports team.

When Gillian causes an accident that leaves Lucas injured, she takes it upon herself to train him through his recovery in order to make up for her mistake.

Lucas is a typical professional athlete in that he is overly confident in his skills and the value that he brings to the team, which causes him a lot of problems as he works to find his role on his new team.

The coach’s daughter is always off limits and the lengths Lucas goes to in order to keep his attraction casual make him seem like a jerk with a personality disorder. But they agreed to keep things no-pressure between them, though the pressure to keep things no-strings quickly becomes harder than either imagined.

This felt at times like just another football romance, but at other times it was thoroughly entertaining. What I loved best about it though, was what Gillian learned about herself and her family over the course of the book. The bits and pieces of Nick and Tess, from Sexy Jerk, were fun additions, and I loved seeing the relationship between Nick and Lucas.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Talk about Hot Stuff, this story!! This book was part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I hadn't read the first book and I didn't miss anything from that story to this one. But I did go back and buy book 1 and will be on the lookout for any others in the series!!

I personally love when there is a strong female in the male dominated industry, specifically football. I think that's why I loved this series and Gillian so much.

Lucas is about to live his dreams... He's about to be drafted into the NFL, ideally for a team away from Chicago. Except the Chicago team picks him. That wasn't in his plans. So he has a bit of an attitude when he comes on the team.

Enter Trainer Intern Gillian who is also the coach's daughter and also the guy she just ran into and injured. Of course she wants to fix her father's star player so she volunteers to rehab him. Even though he's a huge P.I.T.A. with his attitude. But then she cracks that rough exterior...

“I was the devil wearing a Bear’s jersey. She just didn’t know it yet.”

“There was something about that shier that made my heart beat even faster. Something that made this all the more right–it was the fact that we both craved this, needed this, couldn’t not have it.”

“I felt him trembling. It was the same vibration I felt in my own body. It was raw, real, and undeniable. It was a feeling fueled with such intensity, neither one of us could ignore it.”

There is nothing I love more during football season, than to curl up with a good football related sports romance. And boy does this one ever take the cake. From the moment we are introduced to Gillian and Lucas, I wanted more. I needed it. Lucas was a total badass. If you looked in the dictionary for Hot Stuff, Lucas would be there. He had the looks. He had the attitude. He had the job that millions wanted. As a newly drafted NFL player, he could have the world at his feet. The only thing Lucas wanted though, was the one thing that he couldn’t have…Gillian….the coaches daughter. From the moment he laid eyes on Gillian, he couldn’t fight the pull. There was just something about her that drew him in. But, she was forbidden. Completely, 100% off limits…..Gillian had her whole future ahead of her. She loves her family. She loves football. And she loves caring for the players. Gillian is about to face her greatest test ever….Lucas. Try as she might to keep things professional, the sparks and heat are hard to deny. The more time these two spend together, the more the lines will get blurred. And you know the saying, rules were made to be broken….

Hot Stuff was such a fun read. It is smartly written and pulls you in from the very first page. Gillian and Lucas are a force to be reckoned with. From undeniable passion to banter that keeps you begging for more, I could not get enough of these two. Their story kept me on my toes and was angst filled and 100% swoon worthy. I loved the forbidden quality to the story and could not stop myself from devouring each word. Hot Stuff is one of those reads that you can easily finish in one day. The story line is a ton of fun. The characters are entertaining and real. Their emotions are raw and easy to relate to. The romance is a terrific mix of sweet, swoon-worthy, and is hotter than hot. Gillian and Lucas are the couple that you just can’t help but root for.

Hot Stuff is the perfect sports romance to spend your afternoon getting lost in.

Hot Stuff by Kim Karr was a wonderful read! Gillian is an athletic trainer intern with the Chicago Bear, who are in summer training camp. Her father used to play football and is now the coach so her entire life has been football.

With plans to head to college when camp is over, she is looking to get as far away from Chicago as planned. But when Gillian accidentally injures the star quarterback, life is about to change in a way she never expected.

Lucas Carrington has always dreamed of the opportunity to play football, just not in Chicago. While the universe has other plans, Lucas has to come to terms with his disappointment and make the best of the opportunity given to him. Lucas has come to realize that a major attitude change is the only thing going to save him from getting kicked off the team. But when he is injured, by the head coach’s daughter, life begins to become very clear to Lucas. What

This book has that slow burning attraction between the couple that just makes you swoon. Lucas and Gillian both know they should stay FAR away from each other but find it nearly impossible. With Gillian leaving at the end of camp and Lucas’ football career about to start, no strings attached hot sex is totally the answer to life. Right??

I truly enjoyed watching Lucas and Gillian’s relationship develop and grow in this story. The banter between the two was fun, sexy, and you could just see the two of them falling in love. The secondary characters were amazing and just helped seal the deal in this wonderful story! I loved Hot Stuff!

Everyone how knows me they can tell you I love sports…so it’s only normal that I love reading sport romances.

When I first read the blurb I just knew I’d like it. Now to be completely honest it wasn't an WOW read for me but it
has everything you want and expect in sport romance; talented, sexy, gorgeous hot stuff Lucas and a heroine Gillian who is
Beautiful, funny, smart and loves football as much as Lucas.

What starts off as a secret affair ends up being something neither of them saw coming. The more time they spent together the more difficult is becoming to look at this as a fling. As feelings grow they find it more and more difficult to hide how they feel about each other.

When there are outed Lucas decides that Gillian is better of without him.
” After all, if you loved someone you set them free.”

After spending months apart they both finally see that there are strongest and happiest when they are together.
“Lucas was a part of me. He was the blood running through my veins. The oxygen I needed to breath. The thing I didn’t know I was missing in my life until I met him.”

This book was a fun read and I’m really anxious for the next Kim Karr book :)

Lucas is the next big thing he has a plan and when it falls through it brings Gillian into his life. Things aren’t east he’s the ball player and she works for the team and the rules say they can’t get together.
I liked both Lucas and Gillian they don’t just jump into bed they have a sweet friendship that blossoms. Gillian has a plan for her future but is it one she really wants ? There is drama but it’s emotional the push and pull of expectations over desires.
For me the first part of the story was quite slow and too much time was given to explaining what happens at boot camp but the second half picked up the action.
Another good book in this series of standalones.

*ARC*

I love fall because that means two of my favorite sports are back, football and hockey. So obviously as a fan of these sports I am more critical of the books. Now I do have to admit, sometimes Kim Karr is a hit or miss for me, but Hot Stuff was a definite touchdown! For you non-football fans that means it was a hit.

I really enjoyed how you got to understand Lucas’ feeling on why he wasn’t happy where he was at. As the quarterback of the team, you lead the offense to win and if you are unhappy it shows in your performance on the field, it can cost you everything if you let it. The depth of his character was more than I imagined it would be, while he was cocky at times he also was unsure, when he acted like an idiot, he would work harder at fixing what he did wrong. He allowed himself to finally feel more than just football, he started to feel more for his “Strawberry Fields” (this will make sense when you read the book), he was in a tough position to be in and I felt for him big time.

Gillian is forbidden; she is the head coach’s daughter and is also a part of the athletic training team. The connection and chemistry between herself and Lucas was intense. They connected in ways most people never do in life, even with their spouse. These shared a love of football one most wouldn’t begin to understand. She was strong yet at times wore her heart on her sleeve. My heart hurt at times for her after Lucas would do something so stupid that I wanted to practice my punting skills with his balls.

Kim Karr balanced football and romance well, sometimes that is a fine line and I think it was balanced perfectly. Hot Stuff is a book that fans of sports romances need to have on their TBR lists immediately.

3.5🌟's

I love a sports romance, I'm not sure what the dynamics are, but I'm quick to pick one up. It could be the fit bodies, or the dedication to their craft that keeps me hooked. One of the things that appealed to me about this novel was the in depth background on the NFL. I felt that made it more authentic and that I was a part of the team.

This is told in dual POV and there isn't much in the way of secondary characters, what there is, I liked. This meant the main characters had the bulk to carry and at times I was bored. I got that the relationship was taboo, off limits, unauthorized, forbidden, disallowed, not approved - it got tiresome to keep being reminded and it just bogged down the tale by being repetitive. That being said, I did enjoy the overall story. I thought Lucas Carrington was a very lovable character and grew up fast once he was in camp. Football might have been his out from a bad childhood, but it was also his love and life. Until he meets Gillian Whitney, the intern and the coaches daughter. She lives and breathes football as well, has grown up following her dad around. What starts out as infatuation, quickly turns into something precious and it will take some understanding and forgiveness to get to their HEA.
